I took my daughter to see her first movie in the theater yeterday, it was The Spongebob Squarepants Movie!!! Yeah I'm hip. So, I was curious as to what all of you have gone to see in the theater recently. I know there was a topic started about the movie Saw, but what else? I don't know how the rest of you feel about going to the theater, but myself I am rather picky about what I will pay to see. Prices are outrageous! I saw Team America with my sister and it cost $9.00 a piece! WTF is up with that? Luckily My girl was free since she is so young and during the day makes it cheaper to, but man they really F you on prices. And don't get me started about the price of snacks. Ramble, ramble. One love.

ramble,
I haven’t seen a movie in ages.... I just seem to rent them. I've been so busy lately by the time the weekends comes I don't want to do anything. And going to the movies is way too much effort. I just bought a plasma TV so that doesn’t help the situation. It's like I have my own movie theater and I can drink beer!!! Why go out....

Ihear you, my husband and I were watching the local news last night, and they surveyed men and women as to what they wanted for xmas. according to them most women said "peace and happiness", while most men said "big screen tv". He agreed any man would love one,so we concluded thatif all the men in the world would provoked violence, well all men in general were intitled to a big screen there would be no more fighting since that is what all men seem to really want. Then we would all win. Sorry you had to be there it was a funny conversation, but that made me think of it. We waitand rent mostly ourselves, the goodiesavailible at home are always much better. smileys/smiley2.gif I just couldn't resist having spongebob be my girls first movie theater experiance.
the last movie I saw in the theatre was the last Lord of The Rings. I cried at the end.smileys/smiley19.gif

Spongebob Squarepants with the kids. Before that The Incredibles, again with the kids. Sensi a theme here? My last adult movie? Passion of the Christ--sucked (perhaps the most multi-dimensional historical figure is reduced to a one-dimensional whippin' post. Okay I get, Mel, he suffered a great, great deal!) But yeah, I hear ya, ramble, the prices suck, but matinees aren't as bad on the wallet. And snacks? F that! The goodies are purchased elsewhere (at a sane price) and come in via thecontra route. And altho I feel kinda shitty forthe theatre by doin' that, I amsupportin the local Walgreen's or Osco, who are satisfied with a reasonable profit. Damn, talk about ramble, ramble--sorry about that.
Peace.

Last one I saw was the new Bridget Jones. It was good, pretty much equal to the first. The best part was that my fiance went with me willingly, I thought I was going to have to drag him kicking and screaming.
I really want to see Closer, Christmas with the Kranks (good book) and Meet the Fockers. However, with all the good rentals that have been or are being released I haven' neededto get out. I think I will definitely take the kids to see Sponge Bob though, I so love having them as an excuse to see stuff like that!

last thing i saw before that was return of the kind [lotr] and, yes, i cried too! so sad to see such a great trillogy come to and end.. smileys/smiley19.gif
i love to sneak in food! when i was younger and livin with my dad, one time we snuck in whoppers and fries and another time my step-mom snuck in two fully popped bags of our own popcorn plus 3 cans of pop.. she had a big ass purse! lol there's actually a theater near by that lets you bring your own food in if you're waiting for a premier.. brought ina bunchof dollar stuff fromwendy's andthe localampm while waiting for the two towers with some friends. good times..

I heard the incredible was good. After we finished the Spongebob movie my little one wanted to go see it, she was ready to run into all the theaters. she's hooked. I used to sneak food in all the time too, lately since going to the theater is few and far between I am too burnt too remember. Before this movie and team america, which i could not pass up, because of my love for trey parker and Matt stone(geniuses) my last movie was the return of the king too. Monica, you still have $1 theaters by you? Manthose were the best. ragmop so you didn't like the passion huh, i have never watched it myself, but everyone says, "you HAVE to see it" and i am like what ever I'll get around to it, it doesn't appeal to me too much. Yeah, Passion did not live up to my expectations. I wasn't a zealot to see it, but m'lady and me had nothin to do one night, so . . . I guess I wanted character development (selfish me!); Mel Gibson appeared to only want blood, torture, blood, pain, blood, anguish, blood, ridicule, scorn, blood . . . well you get the picture.Oh well, to each his own.
I understand many were moved by it. If so, I think that's wonderful. Just not me. Rent it and let me know what you think, oh ramble of similar wavelength!

Yea, the dollar show rocks. the movies are show like a month or so before they get to the movie stores. its not the cleanest movie theatre but you can bring in food and beer and the people working there don't care enough to stop you. I've actually blow hitters in the theatre too. the on;y bad thing i can say about it is is that it is not the quietest place. you will def. have those few people that yell at the movie and pick up there cells. whtvr. can't beat $2!!

Ok, so I watched the new version of Dawn Of The Dead, and I liked it. We all know you can usually never do better then the original, so as long as you don't expect it to be you will enjoy it. It has quite a bit of suspense and gore, but not too nasty. The story line was similar butnot exact. All and all I think it is a good watch, if you are a horror movie fan.

I saw "The Aviator" this past weekend. Fecking awesome movie!!! Scorcese did it again. Leo is a great actor, Kate Blanchett was really good too. Not alot of plot/suspense etc...just a very good movie about a very eccentric man, Howard Hughes. That guy was a mad scientist/genius/insane. I am a history/biography buff so I liked it alot, my girl thought it was a little boring. 3 hrs.

Ok you guys, saw 3 movies this weekend while my sister was in town. First, Soul Plane. It wasn't bad, alot of good humor, I think if I my in movie snack was the greens, it would have made for a bit more laughter, but I was funny and enjoyable. Snoop had us rollin.Second, Dodgeball!!!!!! Very funny, alot of laugh out loud to the point of annoying everyone in the house moments. I definatly enjoyed it. And third, Resident Evil: Apocolypse. Good shit. My man and I are big fans of the video games, and enjoyed the first film, and so we thought this one did not dissapoint. It did go away from the story line we are used to from the game a bit, but we are intrieged as to where the journey will take us in the next film. Okay so now that I have sounded like a Siskel and Ebert show I will end with a thumbs up for them all!

I was not interested in that one, glad to have trusted my instinct. Just something about that dude thatweirds me out.
So I was over at the G.W. Bush topic, and all the revolution talk made me think of a real cool movie I saw called, Steal this Movie. It is about Abbie Hoffman and his group who protested Vietnam back in the day. Civil Rights leaders and radicals who would not stand for the oppression of our people against the government! power to the people!! right on! I have never read his book intitled, Steal this Book, hence the name of the movie, but it sounds like it is time to brush up. But really it isa great movie if you like good movies with plots and no special effects. Vincent Dinafrio plays Hoffman, you may know him as Private pile in full metal jacket(badass flick) or law and order. I believe he also directs or produces the movie. Enough of my rambling. It is a good movie you will not be dissapointed. One Love.

don't see 'in good company.' waste of time.
'the aviator' was excellent. kate plays an amazing kathryn hepburn, and, surprisingly, leo pulled off the late howard hughes very well. i didn't expect much from him. a lot of howard's life was cut off though- perhaps b/c we were meant to keep a relatively positive view of howard in the end, instead of being dragged deeper into his neurosis?
'million dollar baby' takes some emotional endurance- go in with kleenexes, regardless of gender. honestly, this movie could be acted by cats, and it would still be gut-wrenching. had i to do it over again, i would have seen 'hitch.' ...though i'll probably see that soon anyway, b/c i've heard good things.
i just rented 'control room' about al jazeera. quite interesting- i started it late, so i've only seen half of it, but it's propaganda/documentary that is, as you would expect, very controversial- not in a michael moore sort of way, but borderline.
...and i'm spent.

Just watched City of God. Excellent movie about growing up in the slums of Rio De Jinero. True story, if u cant handle about 200 people being murdered, including kids, dont watch this movie. Also its subtitled. Latin version of Goodfellas.

^ Same
City of God would be the last movie I watched.
Alone, by myself, watching a foreign movie.
GO ME. But it's SO SO SO incredibly good. Loved how it would told in sections

City of God is classic the part when he gets the kid to shootthe other kid . (i know it aint that discriptive sry) But it was some edge of the seat stuff. Great film
