oh man, good question. I was about 10 or 11, and my parents got the whole family tickets to see Billy Joel, it was the storm front tour. My mom never missed a show to this day, and deceided to bring us all along as a family chritmas gift. It was a great show, Billy Joel and his band put on a great act, he is the entertainer!

Its pretty funny, I was 12 years old, My older brother took me to NIN show, Which rocked! But the opening act was lil band at the time and nobody knew to much about them, their name Marilyn Manson! LOL..Funny how music tastes change! I still love the older Nine inch. But that concert prepared me for all the concert experiences I would have after that. Mr. Manson decided to Pull out his "thing" and masturbate on the crowd. Fortunatley for me, I was a few feet away. After seeing that. I was ready for anything. Ahhh gotta love your older brothers! smileys/smiley8.gif

Wow, you guys started out at an early age! I was 18 when I went to my first show. It was Aerosmith, the Get a Grip tour. We went two nights in a row in two cities. They were awesome. After that I kind of made up for lost time and went to about 30 shows within a few years. I'm hoping to start taking the kiddos soon, gotta get them to see some of the greats while they're still around!

I did take my oldest to a show...about 3 weeks before he was born! It was the Mountain Aire music festival. Oh yeah, nothing like 4 days of camping in 100+ degree temps, 9 months pregnant, hiking up hills (in flip flops cause your feet are too swollen for anything else) to get to a decent bathroom or to the show. It was all good though, had my girlfriends to take care of me and got to enjoy Ani Difranco among others. Good memories...and my son is showing signs of being a musical prodigy (but I bet all moms say that smileys/smiley2.gif).Edited by: chrissy

1st band I ever saw was Steve Miller Band and Doobie Brothers. I was 14. It downpoured the whole concert. There was a huge hill that turned into a mud slide and people running and flyin down the hill! It was alot of fun.. It was summer time so it was a warm rain. I was so wet I couldnt get my shirt off. It was stuck to me. The walk ways by the seats were almost 2 feet of water. It was like a river. We went to Dennys afterwards and when I took out my wallet my money fell apart. I was laughed at by the waitress.
LOL But it was a great time! Great memories...

Technically, the first show I saw was The Oak Ridge Boys or The Statler Bros (whoever sings Elvira) at the Ohio State Fair. The first concert I chose to go see was Dokken/Aerosmith in 86 maybe 87(?).

BoPicasso, you must be about my age. Those bands were touring mid to late 70's together, weren't they? Or did you catch a reunion tour? My first was REO Speedwagon in '75 ("You Get What You Play For" Tour--their pre-pop era) at the old Chicago Amphitheatre. God, I feel old now.

First show ever...hmmm...kinda embarassing, but I saw the B-52s when I was in about 3rd grade. My uncle thought it would be cool to take me. Why did he disappear for a bit and come back all giggly? smileys/smiley2.gif

First concert was 1987 - I was 12, and It was the LL Cool J "BAD" tour. Erik B and Rakim and Whodini opened up. Soooo old school. I think I was the only little white girl there. After that iI saw George Michael with my mom - when he was "Straight." HAHA! Then it was Poison with Tesla opening up - talk about diverse taste! All I remember is that LL Cool J was the shiz-nit, muscles, big gold chains and B-boy wear. God - it was sweet. Those were the good old days. I think 12 and 13 were big concert years for me. What are the best/worst shows anyone has ever seen???

You have my deepest sympathy...ugh, I hate hate hate Michael Bolton. Not only for his lack of talent, but because an old boss who I still hate loved him. She had a Michael Bolton coffee cup, posters in her office, pins. And, worst of all, subjected us innocent, lowly, minimum wage paid workers to endless hours of listening to him. I still have nightmares about that job. smileys/smiley6.gif

First let me also express my sympathy for those of you dragged to horrid shows. I don't know if I have a worst show, I have been to festivals where I have not enjoyed certin acts, but I have never gone to a show I did not want to see. I guess the best show, well one of the best shows I have ever been to would have to be Bob Dylan and Paul Simon. The main reason being my love for Dylan, and because I didnt think I would dig Simonas much as I did, he had the crowd on thier feet the whole show! That man can jam!!!

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Smashing Pumkins - Pearl Jam. Blood Sugar Sex Magik Tour 1990, 14 years old. Had never heard of either PJ or SP at the time. Completely missed Pearl Jams set, and didn't care.Chili Peppersblew me away. Played "I Want to Party on Your Pu**y, " and Bob Marley's "Get Up, Stand Up." I couldn't walk after that show.

2weeks before my 8th birthday (1986) my parents bought me the ultimate gift for a girl my age...It all started witha limo pulling into the driveway and my father yelling to me to get down here we needed to go out for a while...I had no idea...So, there I was all decked out in my favorite Bon Jovi tshirt at the time and I thought Ed McMahon was at the door...I have never seen a limo that clode before in my life...And it was for me?? I was so special...So for my birthday my parents got me tickets to go and see Bon Jovi on his slippery when wet tour and that's the tour when during "Living on a Prayer" he flies through the audience and lands on a platform to rock a few tunes....Well, he landed 3 seats away from me and and it's sad to admit but I revelled in every drop of sweat that landed on my innocent body...And to this day, this is the sad part, I still have the clothes I wore in shoe box (probably growing mold at this point) to always remind me of that night...

My 2nd concert, 4 months later, was (and I hate to even admit this) but it was Huey Lewis and the News...How depressing...I have been an avid concert goer since...Not to mention that I have seen every show that G Love and Special Sauce have played in Massachusetts and Rhode Island since 1995...I am very proud of that...

Rock on my fellow G-Lova's......

I am damn proud about Bon Jovi being my first concert...In 1986, he was the man...The clothes in a bx, yeah, I'm ashamed but it's still part of my history...A day I will never forget...A story to tell my great grandchildren...

You should never be ashamed of anything in life...Especially, the extreme measure you can reach for a music band you love...

bruce springsteen !!!! i use to have a crush on him, there is just something about him and courtney cox-arquet dancing on stage w/ cheese smiles that did it for me back in the day. some one needs to bring back the side ways pony tail and the side ways shirt sinching. ladies you gotta remember those circle things with a bar throuhg it , they were used to weave you shirt through to hold it in place . it was used for an alternative of tieing your shirt in a knot. any one know what i'm talking about
