"A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day. — 'Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.' — Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagoras) was misunderstood, and Socrates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socrates), and Jesus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus), and Luther (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Luther), and Copernicus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_Copernicus), and Galileo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galileo_Galilei), and Newton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Newton), and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood." ("Self-Reliance", 1841)

That is a quote from Ralf Waldo Emmerson. I read it in my sophomore english class in H.S. I have never forgotten it. I was just wondering what you guys thought about it, if you already know it, if your thoughts have changed about it. Whtvr. It just always made me feel better about myself. Ya, know. Like I can't sort through my thoughts and I don't wanna sound like a hypocryte or somethin... this makes me feel ok. There are so many times when I felt misunderstood and this quote just brings up good points. Also. I like to change things up a lot. Ya know. I am and always be a free spirit. With consistancy your soul is not free. I dunno. Just wanted to share it with you guys.

i think that is quite a quote. i do rather like it. one of my favorites is "if you can't live without me, why arent you dead yet?" not because i think its deep or meaningful, but its pretty funny.
