Ok, so I was listening to the radio and had a thought for a topic. I was curious if any of you have a band or a type of music that you like that makes everyone you know question why you listen to it. For example I love Queen and get made fun of for it by friends and family. I also love a band called X. for those of you who don't know them they were a punk band from LA produced by Ray Manzerick of the Doors. I listen to it and it has everyone scratching there heads. I tell them "it's punk rock you wouldn't understand." So anyone have a secret passion for music that none else understands but you?

Yeah, I know what you mean. Being . . . ahem . . . more "wise and experienced," most of my peers don't understand any of mymusical preferences, especially the wholeGLaSS devotion and passion. And nobody but my younger bro understands my Ted Hawkins obsession. It's all good tho--it's my music and that's all that matters.

Yeah there called the Dave Matthews Band..lol..A lot of close friends of mine are really really into the hippie scene, and a part of me is to, But I have always loved the DMB, and most of my friends are Phish/SCI/PANIC fans and "usually" those fans (I hate to classify but It's true) Hate the DMB and their fans. I am not big on most of the fans either, but something about the band captures me and it has for a long time now. Its a love I have that they just don't get. Some atleast say they like the band but hate their fans, and I am fine with that, because I dont like most of the fans either, usually college (frat) boys acting like assholes in the parking lots turn me off too. But, I love the band, I love the music...Something some friends just don't understand. If only they could appreciate the music and not pay any mind to some of the fans. Not all of the fans are that way, I have met many a good friend seeing dmb over the course of about 10 years. But it is what it is..

second that, gg. Learned a long time ago that you can't get all black and white with labels. Every group of ppls runsa spectrum. Some dicks, some princes and a whole lot of grey in between. Accept or reject every person on their own merits or demerits. And even then, remember that a prince can be a dick every once and a while. And every dick has a good day occasionally. Peace.

I agree. I was in a fraternity at Purdue, and it was very cool. I was a freshman, knew NOBODY, and I wanted to be with the beer and the girls so...I joined. Also, PU is not a big party school. Lots of Engineers, Computer guys, Math majors, etc...if it wasn't for the frats, there was no social scene. Indiana U. has a huge off-campus social scene, and it is a huge party school. Places like Purdue aren't like that.Edited by: Mr. Cleanface

On topic; RoR - Queen rocks and X is one of the greatest punk bands ever! Flea from RHCP considers X his favorite band, and because of that I got into them. I get made fun of because I love funk so much. Parliament FunKadelic, The Meters, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Ohio Players, Sly and the Family Stone, etc...Make it Funky! I once had a party and we listened to the James Brown Box Set for 10 hours! 6p to 4a.

Agreed, but you can make it what you want. My 2 best friends at school were in 2 other houses. We used to team up, and throw crazy bashes.

Mr. C that is awsome you are an X fan, I can't say I have ever known anyone who digs them, accept the man who turned me on to them an older expunker who owns a flower shop now, but back in the day in cali he partied with them and debbie harry and billy idol. Very cool. I too am a fan of the funk, and I would have to say the chilli peppers really opened my eyes to diving deeper into funk.
"The worlds a mess it's in my kiss." Everyone check out X!!!!
