FINALLY, we get the smoking gun, albeit across the pond.
". . .open ya eyes up, I ain't telling yano lie . . ." Take a gander:
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article8709.htm (http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article8709.htm)
This classified "secret" intel doc.reveals that in summer '02the UK intel ppls were told by GW admin. that GW wanted to take out Saddam militarily, but 1) didn't havehard evidence of WMD, 2)didn't want to use UN diplomatic route, and 3) wanted to frame justification for the war on basis ofoverall war on terror and WMD.
Interesting note: Intel said US knew the case was thin and knew Libya, North Korea and Iran had greater known WMDcapabilities than Iraq. And yet we were Baghdad bound. Things that make you go "hmmmmmmm".
Impeach this MF bastard.
Sorry, I'm a little steamed that our kids had to die (and will continue to die) over there for this f*cker's revenge forhis daddy.

thanks for the link. how reliable is this source? i don't want to come off as a bush supporter or anything. it just seems a bit strange that there's a single document out there that provides definitive proof for all of gw's naysayers. you think the administration would keep something like that under a little tighter wraps. i believe as strongly as anyone of the misleadings of the bush administration, i just don'twant tojump the gun. like i said thanks for the link, though.

Hey, don't apologize. I have no monopoly on the truth, and I could be caught out here with my ass in the wringer. The story has been out everywhere in the UK since May 1. It is supposedly a UK intel document, which would explain whyGW would have no control over its release. The American media is staying away from it. However today, there was some discussion on 2 different national radio programs.
On the other hand Parliamentary elections were just yesterday, and the timing of this just before an election wouldlikely to sway Blair voters. Who knows? I probably bit too quick. It does seem a little too tidy, but it does read rather intelesque (read "boring"), no?

well it definitely validates further research. i just think that there are a lot of things going on right now that have been put into affect long before curious george came into office, and he gets the blame for a lot of it. like i said, i am in no way a supporter. i just don't want to be sucked into the myth that things will be peachy when bush is out of office. there are millions of people out there who believe in the same things that bush stands for, other foreign leaders, other american leaders, and other american voters; sad to say. he is definitely a duesch-bag and needs to be out, i'm kind of wondering who isn't a duesch-bag anymore. you can't trust the democrats and you sure as hell can't trust the republicans. well, enough ranting, i'm sure we're boring the other forumites. i'm glad there are others out there like us who are still sane and give a shit about what's going on in the world.

Granted, Bush isn't the whole problem to all that ails us. However, I lay the entire blame forthis unnecessary war-of-choice squarely upon his shoulders and the hawks he employed. Misplaced blame? I'd argue no. Neither his father nor Clinton (nor their respective adminstrations) were so foolish.
It is just so infuriatingto see howmuch has been lost and sacrificed by G.W.'sfolly:human lives, human rights, civil liberties, what this country used to stand for, families, actual homeland security, money, etc.
Our entire country is now paying (and will continue to pay) an enormous price for this group's deceit, deception, deceit, greed and deceit (did I mention "deceit"?). If they want to play with their own lives and fortunes, that's their own business. However, they arefucking with OURS. And unfortunately, too many sheeplesjust don't care,or are so mis- or uninformedthat they fail to recognize harm when it stares them in the face.
Alright, alright, I'll stop now. Sorry y'all for ranting. Arrrrrggggghhhhh! Goddamn you G.W.!

I love how GW pisses off you ultra-liberals. Ha ha!!! Must get old bitching and moaning every week around here.

No, G.W. himself doesn't piss me off. Seriously. It's his administration'spropensity fordeceit and dishonesty, which then directly leads to harm of innocent people, that pisses me off.The bitching is easy, because as an advocate for peace, social justice, civil rights and liberties, the environment, and state's rights, as well as for the common man, the elderly, and the sick, there is no shortage of material with this administration.
But what does get old is hearing of the loss of yet another life (i.e., Iraqi or coalitionson ordaughter, husband or wife, brother or sister, aunt or uncle) for thisadministration's desire to"spread democracy in the Mid-East." Heavy price to pay for a feel-good idea, bro. IMO.Edited by: ragmop

Follow up: Leaked UK memo is starting to get legs over here in the US media. NY Times and Chicago Tribune picked it up and reported it over the weekend. UK and US administrationshave been asked, but both refused to comment. (Hmmm. No denial, just refuse to comment. Interesting.)
Oh, and 88 Congressman have directed a requestto G.W. to clarify and explain the memo's assertions:

Ahhhhh, it is times like this that make the "bitching and moaning"' about my government's deceit very satisfying.

Update, Update:
This story is FINALLY getting legs here. See: http://www.workingforchange.com/article.cfm?itemid=19022
This memoshould definitively lay to rest the ridiculous premise that it was WMD or the war on terrorism that justifiedthe invasion of Iraq. However,I am certainthat some will, of course, cling tothat now disprovenconclusion--no matter what evidence is presented.
This memo also serves as a great example of whywe "ultra-liberals" don't believe these a**holes when they say: "Social Security is in Crisis", "We need to drill in ANWAR", "We needTort Reform", "We need Bankruptcy Reform", "We need to make the tax cuts permanent", "We're winning the War on Terror", "Tom Delay is a Good Man", etc., etc., etc. Puhleeze!

Mumble, good point.
I would distinguishOperation Iraqi Freedom, however. NOTon the basis that it was started byleaders of one party, versus another.IMHO, the greatest distinction is thatit is not an"intervention", sanctioned by any international body for an allegedviolationofinternational law. It is in every reasonable definiton a"War", which is almost exclusively financed by US taxpayers, and exclusively manned byUS citizens.
I don't think G.W. is Hitler, but scurf's video clip was killer! However IMHO, G.W.lacks empathy and a moral compass. Oh, he believes in a higher power and all, and he firmly believes that everything he does is correct. But his higher power is one that looks favorable on capitalists, and those in power--and that just don't jibe with the higher power that I pray to.
On a more earthly plain, the G.W.administration gives priority to itsown economicgoals and those of theirparty and contributors, to the point of economic and ecologic disaster for this country. Every man is free to live his life as he so chooses. I have no beef or judgment about how one moves through this world--so long as he or she doesso with respect for ALL life around you. However if your lifestyle intrusively impacts my world in a negative way, then I have a problem.
And unfortunately, the ridiculous choices of this administration are going to cost me, you, our kids and grandkids for many, many years. Remember, you heard it here first.
And that, kind sir, is the most polite diatribe I have ever unleashed against this administration.

Rag,I always enjoy your point of view.I know I prob have said this before but it's great to see (trying not to generalise) some American's out there that have open minds and are aware that although you have a great nation some bad s**t has been done in the past and present on that nation's behalf.
More people both in U.S, Australia and all around the world need to be more aware of what is going on in the world in which they live. It will go along way achieving the 'Worldpeace' one of the other threads is discussing.
