hey, guys! its been a while.. anyway, i saw g. play in cleveland last week and i brought one of the silk screens with me. he loved it! i was so nervous on the way to the show, i thought i was gonna puke. i worked so hard on that piece as you all are aware of, and i guess i was worried that it wouldnt be good enough. i mean, its of him and all. i have faith in my work, and i loved it, but still it was difficult because i felt like i was exposing myself to him or something. here's a link to what the silk screen looks like(the ink i used was purple, but this is the photoshop altered image i used to acctually shoot the screen):

anyway, i had been holding it up at various points during the show, and as he walked off before the encore he came over and i held it out to him. he asked if it was for him, i said yes and handed it to him, and he leaned down and gave me a kiss right there! later he invited me to come back stage and all that. it was such a rewarding experience as an artist. he genuinly seemed to really like it. ive always had peers, friends, and instructors be supportive of my work, but this was a little different. even if the piece was of a friend rather than a muscisian, its the idea that i poured my soul into making something look great, and the person that it represents really likes it. one of the most rewarding things for an artist. anyway, i figured my fellow artists(visual or otherwise) would appreciate this story. thanks for your support too.

thanks, rose. i appreciate everyone's support. he mentioned that it would make a nice t-shirt design, so i think im going to design a logo like you'd see on the front of a shirt too.. even if it never happens, it will be fun anyway.

i know what you mean about how everyone and their grandma can say it's
an awesome piece but it just doesn't compair to how great it feels when
the person you made it of/for really loves it.

it would DEF make an awesome shirt design. as the back piece then a
small little sum-sum for the front, maybe around the pocket area would
be perfect. i've been fiddling around with t-shirt designs for glass
myself, but it's been so farking long that i'm out of touch with my
groove smileys/smiley6.gif

thats what i was thinking too(the front pocket thing), ive acctually got a design in mind that im working on right now. i think its turning out nicely. its so much better when youre working on art you care about. when i did the original piece, i wasnt thinking that it was for him per se, i was just having shit going on in my life, and songs on the hustle meant so much to me, so i was inspired. then when i finished it, and it looked so sharp, i thought i might want him to have a copy. its just lovely to get that kind of response to my work. it confirms that this is what i should be doing with my life.

the color isnt quite like that on the original, it was kinda different causei used a digital camera to essentially havea slide of it instead of a flatbed scanner. its paint, in case you were wondering. :)

thanks, rose. im trying to decide if i should email that one to g. or if i should design a few more first... it makes me uneasy. but at some point i have to stop being shy about it and really show off what i can do. i know i show you guys, but thats different somehow.its not as difficult.

the last three designs are all hand-painted, so to sell them id have to make some kind of prints cause the only person i would want to have the originals besides myself is g. but if i find a way to make really good prints out of them i would consider it. the only thing is, i would feel like a heel selling G's image and whatnot without his permission.


and seriously, if you want a silkscreen let me know. youre being nice and letting me come on the cruise and stuff.. i wouldnt charge you for it.
