New Year’s in Australia!
Just got back from our new years down under. First time I ever had New Year’s in the middle of summer. We got to play a festival that took place on two sites simultaneously (Tasmania and Lorne). Both spots were set in the middle of these wide-open beautiful farms. Mind blowing how gorgeous these surroundings were. The festival was called The Falls Festival, you can probably check out shots on the web.
We played in Tasmania first on the 30<SUP>th</SUP>. We were pretty loopy from all the flying (25 hrs) and even more loopy from all the . . . drinking. Then off to Lorne for New Year’s Eve! 16,000 people all jamming and dancing and everything else you can imagine. (Saw lots of condoms in the front pit area. How did they do that?) The vibe was awesome. Great music, we played with Pennywise, Ozomotli, Spearhead, and this amazing artist Xavier Rudd. Check this guy out, he is sick! He’s coming to the USA in May, so go see him, you will be blown away! In Australia, we brought the New Year in a full 16 hours before all our friends back home in Philly! Sounds nuts, right?
G. Love and the fellas had a bomb set, kept the people bumping and jumping. I partied all night, and hung out on the beach for the next 3 days. Like a summer vacation! Had a bunch of plane troubles (missed my plane from Philly to Los Angeles, was fully searched and questioned by customs, band missed their flight to Tasmania, our flight home was cancelled and another 25 hours of flying to get home). Travel hell! But we would definitely do it all again! Thanks Australia and happy New Year everybody!
