Hey yall i was wondering your take on G love going on Letterman and the Jimmy Kimmel show. I dont see it as them selling out, there just trying to reach out to more people in the music community. I just like knowing that not many people have heard of GLASS, makes me feel likeI know of a secret spot or something! ahahaa. Thats just my take on it what do yall think???

i agree w/ you 100%

i like tossing in the boys when i have new peps in my ride to see what they have to say , i'm a stickler about looking at peps diff when they don't dig the sauce.maybe thats dumb but, o well if they can not identify to at least one song then, they are missing out on a part of me

Yes and no...I have been listening to the sauce for over 10 years....I only spread the love to someone who I know is going to appreciate it...someone who loves all music...very open mined...unless of course I just need a good dose of the sauce and I dont care who is in my ride.....its happened before....

With all due respect,a G-fan would have tobeseriously delusional if they think G wouldn't welcome some A-list mainstream success.

Who cares if they sell out or whatever you call it. G is just gonna do what he does. I think he has learned not to try and gauge his whole musical direction on what other people are into. Otherwise he would have sounded like Pearl Jam or Nirvana when his first record came out in1994 like everyone else did!

If he ends up on TRL and is played on MTV2 and MTV 20 times a day and dates actresses and plays on the Grammies and is on every mainstream radio station, I won't really care. They'll drop him after a year or two from rotation and won't care about him, anyways.

Meanwhile, he'll still be the same dude.

The hits are nice though. They pay the bills and put his kid through school.

All my favorite artists should have one or two. . . .it insures they can still afford to tour and do what they really love - make music for years after the mainstream success is gone. (as long as they don't squander it)

I think it would be awesome to see G rock MTV and the grammy's now that JJ is getting naked on national TV I think the world may finally be ready for him... Ishe ready for the world? Isthat what G wants...the world? I would want it too. I know everybody thinks MTV sucks but I still love music videos especially the good ones. If G started making more videos that would open up a new outlet for him to be more creative and for people to understand his message more fully. I think G's got it in him. Dontcha think?

dmakoviney g's son is like only 2 & 1/2 or3 but non the less i see your point you were try-n- to make (i thought i would tell you that b/c it seemed as though you thought he was older , when most people spill out the whole "put their kids through school" speech it reffers to highschool or college)

i'm not sure if he wants all that . i don't think he would mind it, but who would ya know, g does alot of other stuff. if he ever got to that point ; i dont think he would like it.he is toooooo down to earth#1 . #2 it would take him away from the things he likes to do and most of all the things he loves to do. he is all about family, especially his son.

G has expressed many times in interviews how he was disappointed albums like Yeah It's That Easy and Philadelphonic didn't take off like he had hoped. That was part of his beef with SONY, that they didn't understand how to market him correctly so they just let him stagnate.

Regarding the kid and money, he still would like to put his kid through college. That means starting to save now - even if he is only 2 or 3. . . .(not many parents on this list I take it. . . )

Get a hit, put the money in the bank, and let it grow.

Keep coming to Florida. . .

I agree with sassy... I think if he got a good music video out there his music would surge.. As far a Letterman, who doesn't like to watch Letterman???? I think that was a good call. Kimmel isn't much different, just "newer" so its the same concept. Both G-Love and Jack ARE down to earth (obviously), and I really don't think success will change it. To touch people with their music is every musicians DREAM, and you have to intermix that with society to become known, whether it's a cheesy video being on f**king MTV, or an appearance on a talk show. It's all for 1 cause, to enlighten people... to reach out and touch people.

More power to them all.

You mean if he got a video on MTV? There have been plenty of great videos made that MTV has passed on. . .so it is going to have to be a combo of things. . . .good album, good video, roots music keep growing, good contacts, and a little luck.

The pieces are there. . . .lets hope they fall in place.

I really don't think we have to worry about GLaSS on MTV. Maybe on MTV2 but not MTV, and I really don't knowhow much a "good" music video would help him. I think the scene that Jack and G. and othersare into is far beyond that type of thing.G.'s been around for ten years based soley on word of mouth and people's love for his music. I think the next album will definitely get alot more exposure, but bands like Phish, Widespread Panic, String Cheese, and G. Love don't really rely on MTV, radio or the mainstream for their success. It is all about the music. Not the clothes, cars, money or image, and that is really all MTV is based on.

I hope i dont get ripped for this, but i hope that the Sauce is never on MTV. I like the fact that not many people,at least alot I know, have heard of them. I enjoy playing music by them to people who have never heard it and they flip and say where did you hear of this band. His music effects me the way no other music does,i'm just afraid that if it goes mainstream it will change the way his music drives me. I also love the fact that this board is about fans who are deeply moved by one bands tunes. I want the best for the guy,but i dont ever want my feelings about him to change based on popularity.

Makes sense....it just sucks that MTV sucks so hardbecause nobody can even see past "image" anymore.. thats whats cool about G he aint bout image "the fantasy of American identity." Or so I'm led to believe he's about things that actually matter like family, love, respect and peace...hmmm I guess the bigquestion is how do you use something like music videosthat blows up "image"and transform it back into art.

So how about this one. Heard, but have not seen, that G-Love's song 'baby's got sauce' is on a T-Mobile commerical. And what about him putting the 'cold beverage' vibe in a bottle of Coors beer? I see the point of not 'selling out.' Maybe that is what needs to be defined. Ain't nothing sweeter than hearing the songs of one of the truly most gifted bands. I can remember going to red hot chili pepper shows when only 75 people showed up. They have sold out. And most signifigantly their music shows it. G's does not. No compromising from this crew.

Chili Peppers haven't sold out. They still do the same music they have always done - which is testified to in their longevity. If they had sold out, they would have sounded like Poison, Warrant, & Motley Crue in the late 80's. They would have sounded like Pearl Jam in the early 90's and like Limp Bizkit in the late 90's - but no - they still sound like Chili Peppers.

If you have a record deal at all, you have already sold out in many ways - it's just a question of degrees.

I do agree that I deeply don't ever want to see GLaSS on MTV, but isn't that a little selfish? I guess I would like to see MTV change, more that anything... BETTER MUSIC!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't the decision to have his music in commercials mainly the record labels' call?? Record labels make the industry sh*tty. I don't know if any of you saw the Grammy's last night?... But this PRICK from a record label got upto the podium and was protesting the illegal down-loading of music. He did make a few valid points (but not enough).Anyway, he implied that down-loading music is causing a domino effect, which is trickling down to the public school systems, in-turn was depleting the funds for music in school. I don't know, it just seemed like another scare tactic to me. It angers me to imagine school without music.

I kinda strayed away from the subject didn't I?? Just venting I guess.

P.S. Chili Peppers haven't sold out!!!!!

Personally I would love for G to gain more exposure. I think that if G and other similar bands were able to break into the mainstream, music as a whole would be just amazing. The biggest problem in mainstreammusic right now in my opinion is that it lacks sincerity and feeling. Those are probably the two reasons that GLASS is my favorite band of all time by far!!smileys/smiley17.gif I almost wet myself when I found out that G and Jack were going to be on Letterman, Last Call, Kimmel. Now do I want to see G on MTV Cribs talking about how you're not a baller unless you've got 26 inch rims and a 50 carat diamond toothbrush. No. But I doubt he would be that way, so I'm not worried about it. I wish him the absolute best as he continues to try and touch the masses with his music. I'll be along for the entire ridesmileys/smiley2.gif

you guys are great- i really love and appriciate the kind of "underground" music scene- but its really not that underground- its just the people who really love music- who really appricate it and want it to be around forever

if that means G being on mtv- GO FOR IT. who cares- i watch mtv, not becasue im going to LEARN anything- but becasue its something to pass the time.

i think it would be great for him to do more public stuff- i dont understand why people think he will "sell out" becasue hes been around for a decade- why and HOW would he sell out now?

if he just keeps making the sweet sounds that we all love- who cares where we hear it from

but i hear ya about kinda liking the fact that we are of the lesser people who know about g love and widespread and oar and all that.

sorry im kind of rambling

thanks
