Mahray

[Funk Ambassador]

I saw this band called Mahray perform in Southeastern CT last week, and they absolutely blew my mind! They have a real unique sound, and are incredible. It's too bad that these guys don't open for J.J. or G.Love....it would be a sweet show! If anybody gets to check them out, it would definitely be enlightening. Their bass player is probably the best that I have seen in awhile (reminiscent of Stuart Zender from Jamiroquai), and the lyrics have a positive message which is hard to find in a lot of todays music.

Mahrah (the band from Philly) is a completely different band than the one that I was talking about (although they are pretty cool as well). I was actually talking about Mahray.....they are all from New London, CT. They have a real unique sound....a mix of soul, reggae, funk, and world music. I got to see them live again this past Friday and was talking to one of the guys in the band; I guess they are currently working on a website. I have a feeling that this band is going to blow up really soon. They have an enormous following, it is just a matter of time before some industry reps. catch wind of what is happening in Southeastern CT.
