I'm getting excited. I just read an interview in the paper and they said they're touring with backup singers and live musicians. sweet. They said underground hip hop shows are often presented one way, primarily due to economics, but for them to move forward artistically, they chose to go this route. Makes sense because their last album had so much female backup and instrumentation.

Clete, tell me it was supersexyultraamericanlovebaby, when I say the harlot, you know I mean the hot.

well, there was four opening bands wich were all pretty dope. omni, lifesavas, fatlip, and pigeon john. they all protested against bush extremly hard. they would have the crowd say stuff like (fuck george bush) and all sorts of other stuff. blackalicious didnt start till like 11 which kind of sucked. then gab came out and started doing the alphabet areobics and freestyling which was pretty cool. it was all pretty wierd for me cause it sounded like he wasnt listening to the music. it was off beat a little. he doesnt really have any stage presence either. it seemed like he tried to act all cool and he doesnt really have personality.

then there was this girl next to us who was on extacy and she was trying to make out with me, my girlfriend and my brother. i got super mad and told her to go somwhere else. then this guy tried sticking up for her (probably trying to get in her pants) so i said..."guy, you dont need to stick up for her, cause she is gonna fuck you anyway...." well appearenlty it was her boyfriend and we started to fight a little before the bouncers through us out. sucked cause i missed some of the concert.

overall i wasnt that impressed. the back up singers were super dope though. especially the girl. i still love blackalicious, but gab did not really impress me. Edited by: Clete-Tron

well that kinda sucks, pretty funny what you said to the girl, I love it when honesty is funnier than anything you could make up.
I'll send you my report after I go, my rhythms not the best, I try to keep my standards low, so maybe I'll love it....we'll collate out our subjective evidence and send it to hip hop institue of america to further advance the movement.(bla dee bla bla blah- 4:33-time to go home after another rough day at the office)

Damn Clete! Fightin at a show! http://www.philadelphonic.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

I hate spun out chicks at shows making a racket, nothing worse. That sounds like some shit I would do, jeez-us.

I had a blast. jumping and singing, being an all around spun out chick. I liked the openers, thought they were all good. The pharcyde guy (Fatlip?) said the rest of his act couldn't get across the border, so he brought some guy up from the audience just to stand around and make him more comfortable. Blackalicious was great. I could see what you meant though Clete. It didn't sound like the cd sometimes, which is understandable. I found it was usually at at the parts where he is going forever without a breath, and then it would get more montone and not as clearly enunciated. BUT I didn't give a fuck. The feeling and the vibe was there behind it and that's also what I pay to see. I love it when you go to see a band and you know they feel that their music being appreciated, in my opinion it means far more than any "thanks" after the show.
And at the end they all went on together, that was great. (now I'm off to catch the school bus for the 10k, the rise and the fall of Shalan)
