So maybe it's just me but it amuses me that in almost every shot of your feet there is a toy on the floor somewhere. :p I can soooo relate to that but round my house they all have wheels which makes for difficult maneuvering in the dark.

hahaha, I tell no lie, when I've said I cannot keep up with my housework (I know, why is it my housework? right ladies? I have perpetuated the shackles that were worn by mother....) whatever my house is a mess, there probably is some sort of toy, marble, bottle cap, dog fur, glass, paper, every freakin' square foot. It is very densely populated. I try to minimize, downsize, unclutter and every other person in that house is against me.
Yes, against me.

That made me laugh out loud. I sooo hope you didn't mind my bringing it to everyone's attention. It's just the mama in me that got a giggle out of it and I wondered if I was the only one that had noticed.
Around my place our floors look the same (remove dolls: insert hot wheels, monster trucks and Thomas the Tank Engine)..dress out of laundry baskets...dishes go straight from the washer, to stove, table and back again but hey ~ housework can wait, our babies won't stay babies for long.

there are plenty of places like that, but the places he plays just have a bar section that you have to be 21+ to get into.. eugene seems to be the fave town for him in this area because it's a college town, and what grown man doesn't like frosh college meat? err i mean, girls?

how did they do in the contest?
sauce.baby
11-13-2006, 03:15 PM
they got second actually! though everyone thought they should have gotten first. they had the best crowd response [but that's because the amadan army -as us fans call ourselves- is a right rowdy bunch. we started a small mosh pit and all] and their energy was just out of this world. i'm used to listening to them for 4hrs at the pub, and they only got 10 minutes that night to play, and it was the best 10 minutes i've ever heard out of them.
voting was up to the crowd, too, so it was basically, which band could bring the most friends. problem with that was, most everyone voted as soon as they got to the bar, before the bands even started lol
but, either way, they still get to open [with all the other semifinal winners] for storm and the balls at the crystal ballroom -one of the best venues in portland. pretty much a dream come true for them. i want to go and take pictures for them SO BAD, but i don't have the money for tickets. c'est la vie.

well, there's something crazy like, 9 other bands playing that night, also, for the finals. AND, they've had their 7th anniversary show booked at berbati's pan for months lol so they're going to try and play first at the ballroom so they have time to get to berbati's since they'll be playing last there [they have two other bands playing with them]
it's going to be such a crazy fucking day for them lol

Ok, so I've read one too many fashion women's mags and they all give tips on how to 'curl' your hair without a curling iron....
SO, here's the product of my experiment. I have dead straight hair...I mean dead straight...so the other night I washed it, put wax in it when it was damp, made little twists, and slept on it...crazy hair was the finished product :p

i think i've tried everything to get my hair to hold a curl  . if it works it lasts about 2 hours...
sway2sway
11-24-2006, 01:40 PM
I like it duke. When I was just a wee lass, I used to braid my hair up in about 20 or so and tie the ends with twist ties or little pieces of cut cloth. so snazzy, I know. But a day or 2 later, when I'd take them out, it'd be super wavy- but my hair is already wavy, maybe that makes a difference.
the duke
11-25-2006, 02:18 AM
i did it wet, with a spray on wax in a can...its by Paul Mitchell and I think you guys have that stuff in the US. Just spray on wax, twist it up (it feels a bit gross) and then pin in to your head..I slept on mine, took it out in the arvo of the next day and then sprayed hair spray on it to hold. It lasted all night (I worked till midnight) and then was curly the next day too. I ended up straightening it back for work the next day cuz it was a bit messy...it took another washing to get the waves out though.
Tink, I have THE most straightest hair ever...curling irons don't work on me...it's so bad that by the time I finish curling my hair, the ones I did at the start are straight again, no matter how much product...I found this way works the best.
tinkerlion
11-25-2006, 03:36 AM

ooh rags... please I beat you to it! I saw her on Monday night here in Minneapolis! I should have warned her you would coming:) I am on the lap top now otherwise I would post my pix... Hopefully I can tomorrow or later this week.
I thought her performance was pretty good, I would have liked a different set list... but nevertheless she was great... and like always the nicest person ever!
Ray was also fantastic! I think he is one of the greatest songwriters of our time! I could listen to him all day! Love him!
Also rags, it clearly doesn't look like chicago is going to happen this weekend. I am sad too because ben taylor cancelled here last night! I was pretty upset, but I am volunteering at a cancer benefit gala Friday night so I don’t think I can fit a trip to chi-town in as well:)

11-30-2006, 02:04 PM
warned her?! hell that girl was blowin' my phone up for a week making sure i'd make it out.;)
the venue set up sucked. typically the Vic is a sweet club because most everything is GA, but this was a benefit hosted by a local radio station (WXRT). so it was assigned seating.
and half the f*#ks (f@*ks) attending were there only for ray, and surprisingly gave trizzy very little respect or attention. example? the couple who were seated next to us came in more than halfway through her set, and turned to us and asked if we new who "these guys" were on stage. luckily for them, amanda chose to handle the response. she knew my response would have been far less congenial to these ppls.
look i know that not everybody is into her or necessarily knows her, but dammit every act, opening or headlining, is compiled of artists who have, and are working their arses off to make it in the biz, and to entertain US. the audience should make it their business BEFORE the event to seek out and learn a little something about ALL acts they are going to be seeing--opening and headlining. it's called the internet, people, you will find every single performing artist somewhere on it. some of the best music out there can be found in the opening acts, ppls.
and look, if you are going to fly blind to an event, then dammit give every act (that you know nothing about) the respect they deserve which is: 1. your attention, 2. your silence during their performance and 3. your applause if you enjoy their sound.
DO NOT arrive late, talk through the set, and interfere with my night, just because you have chosen not to expand your musical horizons!!!!!

I couldn't agree with you more... expecially in a theater setting! It is so difficult not to have those people ruin your show. I literally had the most annoying people sitting in front of me as well on Monday. I was in the front row, but sad enough there was a pit in front of us! After an hour into Ray's set I determined they were on E, that along with the alcohol they were sipping from a flask made their interpretive dance moves all the more entertaining and infuriating at the same time. I mean don't get me wrong there is a time to get crazy at some shows, but when you are in a seat and people can't get away from your craziness- that is not the time.
I haved found some of my favorite musicans because they have opened for other people I have seen. I like the opener 90% of the time. People just need to give them a chance.
I of course know TP loves you rags, you are the reason she comes to chicago!
