I haveconsidered this many times, and wondered whatothers thoughts were. What would it be like if GLaSS added a fourth to the band?? I know they record with other musicians onmost of the albums, but I am talking about on the road as well. I was thinking a keyboardist/percussionist to add more depth to the shows. "Yeah, It's That Easy" is probably my favorite album, and G. had all kind of peeps on there with him. I know the 3 piece is old-school and unique, but...what if?? Any thoughts??

I brought up the same topic on the old boards. I think most people agreed that a fourth full-time member would not be very well accepted, but one or two extra musicians on the tour would be great. I had brought up the discussion that at live glass shows, there would be times of complete rockin out insanity, only to followed by long boring groans of emptyness that could be filled quite easily with some keys or drums. Adding that extra dimension would certainly create some more excitement and more good vibes for you buck.
This isnt a stab at jimi, houseman, or garret, or is it a motion to undermine their abilities to blow up a spot. If you've ever been to a small, intimate glass show, you know youve seen on of the best trio's within 50 feet of your face, ever. But if your at a larger venue or an open air festival, soemtimes you can find yourself wonder whats goin on or if they are into a long jam or if they dropped a guitar or symbal.
I saw a show in RI and they had some dude on some little percussion kit the whole show. And even though they were struggling to find some musical chemistry with the guy, it made the show 20 times more interesting. If they found a couple of cats to hop on tour with them, i gaurantee no fan will be dissapointed.

It has been brought up to Garrett in interviews before. He said they have tried from time to time, adding keyboard player and so forth, but he said it is hard to keep the shows as loose that way because him and Jeff and Jimmy sort of "telepathically" (for lack of a better word) know where to go with songs and stuff.
He said they had to "plan" things out too much with a fourth member - couldn't be as spontaneous.
The only problem I see with that is that I feel they sound a little "thin" in very large venues - like stadiums and stuff. Some keys would help fill in the gaps and make the sound sound much fuller. I prefer seeing them in small to medium club settings anyways, so it doesn't really bother me much.

yeah they do have this awesome crazzy conection i've seen them live 3 times and i got to see how they feed off each other. @ austin city limits they were off a lil' may be it was the crummy weather,or something w/ g --he seemed caught off gaurd. but what was awesome is that i could see jimi realy zone-n- in on him and feeling g out ,doing his best to go w/ garretts' vibe it was a cool thing to see
