but really i don't have many female artists i get really excited about. there's no doubt, but it ain't the same without the band. erydah badu is one of my favorites. it's not that i don't enjoy female artists, i guess i got burned out by my room mate my freshman year of college. all she listened to was "vagina" music. it was all slower, not alot of rock to it.

I agree, tinkerlion. Usually don't get too excited about female singers. But Charlie is a great performer and her live shows are GREAT!! Some fantastic musicians in her "permanent" band and a great diversity in music!! Am just trying to do my thing to get her music out into the world .. and hopefully there are more people pickin' up on her vibe!! smileys/smiley2.gif

Charlie and bandwill actually be playing in Amsterdam at the end of August, but it's not a regular show. On August 25, 26 and 27 Amsterdam hosts the "Uitmarkt festival", which is the start of our theater-season. Over 3 days different acts are doing previews of what they'll get up to in the theaters in Holland that season.


Charlie is supposed to be playing there one of the nights and probably do a couple of songs. The Uitmarkt festival is on different locations across the city, like Dam Square, Waterlooplein, Nieuwe Markt, Nes, etc. From August 9th the full program of those 3 days will be up on the Uitmarkt website: http://www.uitmarkt.nl/programma.cfm


Too bad you won't be in Amsterdam in June ... she's playing the Vondelpark then .... a cool and relaxed gig in the park is always a good thing!!

This is my all time favourite website!! It'srun by volunteers of our 2 main Amsterdam concert venues (Paradiso and Melkweg/Milkyway) and they record performances of different artists that play at the venues. It's all done with permission of the artists too.


Type in charlie in the search-box and you'll get to her performance. It's pretty cool!! And there are some other great shows to watch on there too! (No G.Love yet ..)

Yeah, I saw Ani D. there last time i was in amsterdam. I may be there i don't know yet. I might be getting a job at this highschool in which case i probably won't be there. Does Charlie play by herself or does she have a band, or is she just a singer or what? Are you in a band as well?

Me in a band?!? ... I wish!! ... No musical talent here!! smileys/smiley17.gifI'm just one of those people that spends as much time as she can supporting musicians and going to see them live!! (singer/songwriter andfunk to rock andthe heavier stuff... and anything in between) Paradiso is (in my humble oppinion) the best live venue in Amsterdam!!


Charlie usually plays withher band. I misread the website before it's actually Charlie Dée and another band called Solo. Not sure who they are, but Charlie is playing at 8pm and Solo at 9:30pm ... I guess she's supporting ... or something?!? It's only €10 too ... so not bad!!

Thanks. Yeah, i bet i'd really like her band. I don't really have too much musical talent either, not compared to the other people in town but i try. It seems like everyone and their sister is in a band these days. i guess that's why i've strayed. i tend to stray away fromthe masses.not on purpose it just happens.thanks for the info, though. you're the best!smileys/smiley10.gif
