No! But I did catch the highlight of it. That dude is a badass.
We had Swe v. Trin & Tob, and Argen v. Ivory Coast on the tube here. Sweden looked damn tough, but they finished 0-0, the Swede fans were crushed. Trin & Tobago's goalie made some incredible stops.
USA has a tough road with Czech first and then Italy. Hopefully they can make it to the next round, we'll see.

I think I may be here next weekend, but not 100%. I am heading home (Richmond IN) on Sunday for Fathers Day, and a couple birthdays (neice and neph). Let me know your plan and we can try and hook it up! Holla!
BTW, I'm pissed right now because I can't find a match on the tube anywhere. I wish they had a package deal you could buy and get all the games. I would spring for that in 2 seconds.

I watched most of the England game yesterday morning. I had some company staying at my house and a few of them are huge fans. Other friends are in Europe now and going to a few games while they are in Germany. How great would that be.

Well, that was a pathetic attempt by the USA, the Czech's ran us into the ground. Very bad performance, and they have Italy next. Could be a short Cup for the Stars and Stripes.

Hey Duke! You up too? Or, it's probably the middle of the day here you are right?
Anyway, the USA was pretty pathetic today v. Ghana. Italy did their job and beat the Czech's, all the US had to do was take out the tiny African country of Ghana and we could have advanced. Although I though the penalty call shot was BS, they still needed a win to advance and they would not have gotten one. They weren't aggressive! They didn't attack! Their formation was off! The 4-5-1 will not win you a game when you really need a win.
What a weakperformance and overall dissappointing Cup. Obviously, the USA is still not in the same league as the rest of the world when it comes to soccer. I think our coach will be replaced for sure. Most of the analysts seemed to think he did a horrible job coaching and planning their attack, and I agree.
Anyway, on to Italy. I hate to see them playing the Aussies Duke because I would be cheering for you if they weren't.However, I've got to stick with the homeland. I think they have a great shot at winning it all, but they will have to get through Brazil this round. We'll see.

the boys brought nothing.
and they bitched about the PK call in the first half like it was the reason they lost. stop bitching boys. a call is a call. my 9 year old mid-fielder son knows and and better live that rule or he doesn't play.
the boysconvenientlyglossed overand ignoredthe blatant non-call foul we committedin the 75th minute, that resulted in ghana's forward being carried off the field on a stretcher. yeah, boys, you beat yourselves. next time bring some game.

in what I believe is a VERY VERY VERY dubious free kick...Australia went down 1-0 to Italy....NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!!!
Yes, Guus should have put John Aloisi in earlier, but really...when someone is already down and you trip over them...that's NOT a penalty!!!

i didn't see it, so i will defer. and generally, absent some shenanigans by the player on the ground, i would agree.
but it definitely can be and i havecalled several times (i.e., determined to be playingin dangerous manner, impedingprogress of opponent). can't make the call in a vacuum though--depends on player's conduct throughout game, how long he was on the ground before trip occurred, whether player on ground in was in position to avoid contact, etc.
I think the Aussies got screwed..The play looked clean the guy that fell just sold it well tough call..Go Portugal smileys/smiley17.gif

well, the game here is so freakin' slow that i sometimes get aggravated watching it. for instance, chicago/new england 0-0 draw last night. honestly, there were prolly only 5-6 good attacks between BOTH teams for the entire game. c'mon! shots wide and high all night long.
thank goodness for fsc. my saturdays and sundays are THE shit fall to spring. and sauce, i love watching the precision of the devils, but i'm more of a liverpool fan myself (altho my AIG broker scored the red and white MU jerseys for me recently [and he's working on the black!]).

some real football talk what what? That's sic about the jerseys. I have not gotten into MLS as much. We had FSC for a while and it got me hooked on the EPL. The only reason I've tried Carlsberg was because of Liverpool haha.
There is an Irish pub here in town that shows most of the championship games and other marquee matchups. All the expatriots come out so it's a fun scene. I have a couple of British friends that support Tottenham and Chelsea so we hook up for a match from time to time or play World Cup on the PS2.

Oh! No fair Rags! If you ever get tired of looking at the MU jerseys.. Well.. ;)
Carlsberg is a tasty brew, isn't it? That and Stella was all I drank when I went to the UK back in March.. Everyone kept asking me of I was sure I didn't want a Bud or Coors.. I was like, 'Why travel over 3000 miles just to keep drinking pisswater you import from the US?' lol

Bench..? Haha :( It was my first [and only] year, my frosh year, and the rest of the team had been playing since they were kids. The coach never really seemed interested in teaching me how to actually play, and my team mates didn't like me, so they were no help either. So, when I actually got to play, I was usually defense/fullback whatever you want to call it.
But then, near the end of the season, I went to try and score one night, did the zigged-when-I-should-have-zagged thing, something happened to my hip and I ended up developing bursitis [though we didn't find out that's what it was until later. I thought maybe I pulled something, so I took it easy on it for a while, but nope, every time I started running, it started hurting.]
No more soccer :( [I had to quit dance, too, which pissed me off even more]
