A friend sent me these pictures of clouds- mamatus clouds- never even knew they existed till today.
No response expected, I realize clouds isn't likely a hot bed of discussion.

Mammatus Clouds
sagging pouch-like structures
Mammatus are pouch-like cloud structures and a rare example of clouds in sinking air. Sometimes very ominous in appearance, mammatus clouds are harmless and do not mean that a tornado is about to form; a commonly held misconception. In fact, mammatus are usually seen after the worst of a thunderstorm has passed.

those are amazing. it would be interesting to see them at sunrise or sunset. be able to see a larger spectrum of color reflecting threw them.

2 years ago, about this time of year actually, during Chris Robinson's set (Black Crowes singer who was opening for Allman Brothers Band) the sky was full of clouds just like that. The band actually stopped after a song and everybody in the crowd stood in amazement, and the band was looking at them, cheering, etc. Then CR went into 'Roll me like a Tumbleweed in Eden' badass tune! Trippy shit to say the least, especially that night. smileys/smiley2.gif
