(yeah, you're back in school...this might not fly, but I thought it might be interesting to discuss quotes, current- or not.)
"I am very sorry about the sad events of Sept. 11 but I wish that the United States of America would have built one school in Afghanistan for each of the victims" instead of going to war.
"We would have seen the number of terrorists decrease then in 10 years."
-Shirin Ebadi (first woman to become a judge in Iran and won a Nobel Prize in 2003 for her work with women and children)
Personally, I couldn't agree more that education is the only hope. War only ignites and inflames irrational passions.

education is defiantly the key, and yet the amount that is learned at school seems to be decreasing (this observation taken from my interactions with the kids in a schoolish age.)
The creation of something new is not accomplished by the intellect but by the play instinct acting from inner necessity. The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.
Carl Jung (1875 - 1961)

related to the Carl Jung quote, I had to read it a bunch of times before I grasped it ( I think I do anyway). I think it'd be more accurate to read 'not accomplished by intellect alone'. Not to say creation of something new doesn't arise out of pure play; but, I think you need the intellect to recognize the possible purpose and value. I guess it depends upon what the creation is.
The last line makes me think of King Kong.

I just have to put this one up too...double kissin'.
"I have a BMW. But only because BMW stands for Bob Marley and The Wailers, and not because I need an expensive car."
and later
"I drive a jeep. An old jeep, so nobody will say I'm driving a BMW anymore. I couldn't stand that BMW, ha ha ha! BMW make pure trouble!"

"How about a positive LSD news story? Wouldn't that be news-worthy, just once? To base your decision on information rather than scare tactics and superstitions and lies? I think it would be news-worthy:
"Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves...
"... Now, here's Tom with the weather."

"Watching television is like taking black spray paint to your third eye."
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Christianity has a built-in defense system: Anything that questions a belief, no matter how logical the argument, is the work of Satan by the very fact that it makes you question a belief. It's a very interesting defense mechanism, and the only way to get by it – and believe me, I was raised Southern Baptist – is to take massive amounts of mushrooms, sit in a field and just go, show me."
-----------------------------------------------------------
"All our beliefs are being challenged now, and rightfully so – they're stupid."
-----------------------------------------------------------
"The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey – don't worry, don't be afraid ever, because this is just a ride.' And we … kill those people.
"Ha-ha, shut him up. We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real.
"It's just a ride.
"But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that?... And let the demons run amok. Jesus - murdered; Martin Luther King - murdered; Malcolm X - murdered; Gandhi - murdered; John Lennon - murdered; Reagan.... wounded. But it doesn't matter, because – it's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love.
"The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace."

"Whenever I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean I'd love to be skinny like that, but not with all those flies and death and stuff."
--Mariah Carey
"That lowdown scoundrel deserves to be kicked to death
by a jackass, and I'm just the one to do it,"
--A congressional candidate in Texas.
"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."
--Al Gore, Vice President
"I love California. I practically grew up in Phoenix."
--Dan Quayle
"Your food stamps will be stopped effective
March 1992 because we received notice that you passed away. May God bless you. You may reapply if there is a change in your circumstances."

Sauce, thanks for those, they made my day nicer. It takes stuff like that now and again to shake my glass up, so it's half full, rather than otherwise. I guess if you look at those passages one way, it's disheartening; but I find it uplifting. thanks. I'm gonna go pass it on to all the unsuspecting individuals in my email address book

Today my daughter was out in the backyard running around barenaked, she peed out in the grass, then she dropped her new Ariel the mermaid bracelet in the pee, at first she was a little upset, then this is what she said,
"That's ok, it just makes it fresh and special."
(pardon? honestly, I did not teach her that)
