What up what up what up? Greetings!

I'm headed into a double day off after a good first week on the road. It started in Corpus Christie, TX and ended up in Austin at the Austin City Limits Festival. The fest was amazing...Where to start…hmmmm?

I arrived on site Saturday afternoon and did some press and radio interviews. Then I went to the kid’s stage where I caught the tail end of Matt Costa's performance. After he finished we decided to play the Beatles song "The 2 of Us" for the kids. Then I rocked my show playing "Jungle Gym" "Milk and Cereal" "Elmo’s World" and others. I had the kids yelling milk and cereal and that was cool.

I left the site and headed to the coolest store in Austin--Factory People. They have all the fly gear there, the dopest jeans and shirts. They laced me up and I was on my way to a cocktail party to honor Quentin Tarantino and Fiona Apple. I had the pleasure to speak with Fiona for a little while. FYI, we were label mates on Epic/550 Records and her old bass player Keith Lowe was in the Special Sauce for a tour. She is an amazing singer.

Then my manager Jay and I hit sound check and headed back to the hotel for some eats and a nap before the late show that night at La Zona Rosa.

Here's where shit starts getting crazy

I get to the bus before the show and I'm informed that 7 time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong and Matthew McConaughey are sitting in my dressing room. I head back and sure enough there they are. Crazy! Both Matthew and Lance were super cool. Matthew jammed the whole night on the side of the stage. Mark Broussard and Ben Elman from Galactic joined us on stage the show was slamming then we partied till 4 in the morning with everybody. That was just the first day!

Sunday was no brunch-having-no-laying around-sleepin in situation. It was hangover, early press, watching the Eagle's terribly devastating OT loss to the Giants who caught us sleeping. Hit the gym, more press then a last minute hustle to the main stage where I sat in with Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals on "steal my kisses". By then it was 6:50PM and I was on stage in an hour for my festival hit. I hit the catering made a hot plate for after the show, ate 3 cups of Acai smoothee with granola and an ice coffee then hustled to the bus to get suited up for the show. Mark Boyce and I made some adjustments to the set list, I took a slug of makers to calm the nerves and hit the stage facing a crowd of 15-20,000. Whooooooo

We had 45 minutes to take care of business, festival rules style. I think we slam-dunked the show and we were all pretty happy with the performance, the crowd was amazing, the new material went over big time and that was a wrap. 20 minutes after we finished a huge thunderstorm came through and it was like a mad exodus from the fest so we really lucked out weather wise. Give thanks!!

Now I'm headed to NYC to visit my sis and her new husband for 2 days then out to Tucson and Cally for tour. That's it that's all. Big thanks to everyone from ACL!

Peace in the Middle East!

I get older and they stay the same age.

I just had to. Can I also say. I want a blue lightweight all terrain bicycle with baskets and steamers.

How can I express how I feel about you Stealing kisses with Mr. Harper? I don't know how to. I'm just glad I saw you when I did. (ok ... I wish I'ld have been there)

I have a request for Puff the Magic Dragon in the children's tent please.

Mad love.

Waddup G - or should I say "Turtle". Wow, how long has it been since you've heard that name? Yeah, it's been about a million years, but I just got back from Avalon and was thinking about the summers back-in-the-day when we would hang out on the boardwalk, drinking brass monkey, or partying on the beach 'til the wee hours. We should do an Avalon reunion - I'd be curious to see what everyone's up to. Well, obviously we know what you're up to. Me, Amy M, Pugsley (Greg), Tommy L, etc. Anywho, just thought I'd pop in and say hi - what's 20 years give or take...

I was just reading my 'runners world' magazine that came in the mail (I always feel like a big goober telling people I read it, cause my miles take like 10-11 minutes, and lord knows there are a lot of things I could do which would speed me up way more than the tips in there..[tangent], anyway...)
So I flip er open and there is a picture of Lance and Matthew running with their shirts off, not too bad. Oh yeah, there was a story and an interview with Mr. Armstrong about the marathon he's going in, or something like that (kidding, that's what it was- he's on the cover too).
Even Bobby Flay from the food channel had a page cause he even finished a marathon. If Bobby Flay can do it, why can't I?

Matthew and Lance are nice to look at, but when I hear Matthew McConaughey's name, all I think of is him playing the bongo drums naked, and it cracks me up

sway, have you ever trained to run a marathon?

when did Matthew play bongo drums naked? in a movie? in your bedroom?
haha ha.

I've done 3 or 4 halfs. I've started to try and train for the full one a few times, but somewhere around the middle shit happens. I really can't stay motivated to do the long runs in the 2nd half of the training programs. The longest I have to do for a half is 2 hours. Also I really don't thnk my delicate feet and ankles are cut out for the abuse. When you're kinda slow like me, it would take 4-5 hours, guessing, that's a looong time. excuses excuses/ use it or lose it

according to The Smoking Gun, "Matthew McConaughey was arrested by Austin, Texas police in October 1999 and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a neighbor called to complain about music blaring from the actor's crib. When cops arrived, they found McConaughey dancing around in the buff and playing bongo drums. The drug charges against McConaughey were eventually dropped, though the star did plead guilty to violating Austin's noise ordinance, for which he paid a $50 fine. " ahaha, what a sight

you can see the arrest warrant, mugshot, etc. on the websight: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/mugshots/index.html

i don't think i could ever train either; i lose motivation/attention in many things quickly. what an accomplishment it is to finish a marathon, though.

now that sounds like a fun guy to party with...and the warrant and mugshot arent't what I'd be interested in seeing.
ha ha ha, I'm jokin.
