I apologize if I come off as one of those converted-holier-than-thou-do-gooders, cause I'm not, so I'm trying not to sound that way. I sort of stopped eating meat about 1/2 a year ago. I tried to stop entirely, but I'd get drunk and forget, or I'd just cheat, then I'd feel bad- which I realized is not the point. It's not about being perfect, or keeping score, it's just about eating less meat (for me anyways). As it stands now, I probably eat a big meaty something every month, some months 2 big meaty somethings. But now, I don't just eat meat indiscriminately, I hold out for the really good stuff, like my favorite mushroom mozza burger dipped in gravy at the pub, or thanksgiving turkey dinner, or big fat teriyaki new york steaks on the bbq. I don't eat the crap I used to like bologna, sausages, hamburger casserole slop- you get the idea.
So I submit to you, the article I read which made me want to try and eat less meat. Even if people ate a bit less, especially beef, it would make a difference. Maybe you could eat tuna salad once a week instead.

that was an interesting read. it's amazing when you stop and look at the chain reaction that occurs from something we don't really think about.

yeah that is interesting....we don't eat beef in our house because of my mum's religious reasons...and i think the last time I tried to eat it I was sick because my body rejected it...I also don't eat any meat often, just when I feel like it once a week, and that's normally chicken.
I could go vegetarian if I wanted to, but it's very inconvenient in a lot of cases...

LMAO there's a lot more than not eating meat that's gonna be the death of our planet ;)
my parents just got back from a 2 month trip through the US and Europe...the amount of water they waste in general is disgusting...and electricity, and everything else they don't give a rats about...

hallelujah sista!
BUT, pretty amazing, in that article- driving the average car for a week yields 3kg of carbon emissions, clearing rainforest for, and the resulting production of 1 pound of beef yields 75kg of carbon emissions. That's 4 quarter pounders with cheese to almost 1/2 a year of driving. ouch baby

i think it's great that ya'll can so easiliy cut out meat. not something that i would be able to just give up. there's too many times when i find my lunch being meat and cheese or something of the sort. it's already hard enough for me to eat out. you get sick of salads real quick when it's the safest choice for you.

It's inconvenient when I go to eat at other people's houses...most people know I don't like it, so it's easy that way.
I'm also iron deficient and don't eat anywhere near enough greens to combat it...so lamb has to be in my diet at least once or twice a week not by choice....
I could NEVER give up dairy though Japhy...I drink milk like it's going outta fashion and yoghurt is a love of mine...
