curse of the ipod

i'd heard all sorts of stuff about ipod doing crazy stuff and crapping out and hoped it wasn't true. got my first taste today. it just froze up for NO reason. luckily the guy at best buy could fix it pretty easy, but he had to wipe it clean. now i've got to reload my 28 gbs of music :eek: that were on there. luckily most of its backed up.

i'd be pretty pissed, too. did you back up your music on an external hard drive? i'm curious to know how easy it is to reload your music from an external, b/c i've heard it sucks. hope it's not too much of a problem for you. at least you still have your ipod, though.

we actually added an extra harddrive just to back up our music. the only issue is that some of my music was added to the ipod before we got it. oh well, i needed to get it on there anyway.

if the ipod wasn't the greatest thing in the world when it worked, I would not be putting up with all the problems I have had. My first one broke a few times under warranty, but just after the year mark a sad face showed up and it wouldn't work at all. (FYI a sad face means it cannot be fixed. I should have tossed it out the window in the middle of iowa) So that was August 13th. August 14th I go and buy a whole new one. Video and all. No problems until last week and it just froze. It wouldn't reset.. just froze. So now my new ipod is getting fixed. Moral of the story... get the extended warranty!

I have heard from my geek squad model of a cousin that the nanos are almost imossible to break... I should have gone with that, but it just didn't have enough room from my music collection.

Tink glad yours is working again, and good luck loading all the music back on. It takes a while:)

well- this is all good to know- I still haven't taken the plunge...I was told not to buy one yet b/c it would be a good x-mas present...I do not think I can wait that long...but now I know I need to be specific- NANO and extended warrenty...hope it's up an running soon Tink!

no i didn't lose the stuff on my computer. the problem is that we up graded the computer after eric got one too. we now have a 111 GB harddrive that is just for our music collection. but before we got that i really didn't store too much in the itunes library (we now have a program that backs everything up that we put in itunes.) the only thing is now i have to put all that music back that i had beore we upgraded the computer, and i went crazy when i got it so a large part of it isn't in the computer. i had 27.5 GBs on music on this thing, now i have 7.2. gotta go through and find everything that's not in the library :rolleyes:


rensul, you might want to look at what you need it for and what accessories you want. that's what sets the ipod apart is the accessories. i could never just have an nano, i listen to my ipod everywhere!! if it hadn't been a gift i was looking at the creative zen. but whatever you get, get the warranty!

Microsoft is putting one out very soon it should be compatable with the I pod stuff.

my boy got a creative click....it's only 1GB but it's really cool...does lots of things the Ipod won't.

I actually hardly use my nano...only when I take the dog for a walk, i'm yet to figure out my itrip without having my boy in the car with me, and I haven't got a dock with speakers for the house...hopefully mine doesn't die though...that'd be shit!
