Today is the Canadian thanksgivng, so that's what I'm gonna be doing...fattening up with the family. Thankfully, I'm not the turkey cooker. We're also celebrating my sista's birthday, she's just a wee 27 today- and it was my dad's birthday on the 3rd (coincidence)...which means lots of cake and pie, I'm down.

no, my mama's. I'm not to be trusted with such a tradition, don't have enough chairs, make lumpy gravy, have a messy house, my dog jumps on everyone and just generally not interested enough to take such initiative.
Plus, I haven't mastered the art of piecrust.

well i hope you enjoy it all. i actually got to do thanksgiving last year because the in-laws were in hawaii. everything went over well (especially the gluten free dressing,) but liz and i got some weird looks for serving green mashed potatoes.

why not?

we tried to stick to the traditional meal because thanksgiving is a big deal in ericand liz's family, but i just couldn't make the whole meal traditional.

i've played that game before. good thing there's an area where i'm on the highway for a few minutes. going 80 usually helps to make up the time. hopefully it will pass quickly.

but I mean, tell me you didn't just put food coloring in it just to make em green. I could see maybe if you added spinach juice or zucchini zest- but gratuitous additives?

(hang in there Sauce, must be nice to have your own life outta the house though, even if it is a hum-drum 9-5)

sorry to say we just added food coloring. after the incident we had with caramelizing the walnuts we were going for ease.

I had very yummy green mashed potatoes at a wedding- they had an herb in them that made them both green and extremely tasty...I'll have to find out what was in them- you should try that next time...my mother was horrified by them and wouldn't try them...some people aren't adventurous with their food!:)
