Mmmmm, I had sushi for dinner. california roll, dynamite roll, smoked salmon roll, avocado roll, obviously I'm not much into the raw stuff, I've tried a bit of it, but these are my fail safes. I mix the wasabi into my soy sauce; I heard this is wrong, anyone, is that true? I was looking at the menu and there was one roll named after my town. It costs twice as much as most of the others. Made me guffaw, what the hell do they put it in it I said...crack? maybe molson Canadian beer, maybe corn, maybe salmon. I think I'll pass. There is one I'd like to try next time though, it had scallops and kiwi, sounds interesting. you guys like sushi? any suggestions for my next foray? (how bout a moray?)

shashimi all the way, baby! that's sushi with NO rice whatsoever. fatty tuna, white tuna, red tuna, pickled mackeral, squid, swordfish, yellowtail, octopus--damn, you name it, i eat it. getting hungry just thinking about it.

i am all up in this shit. took 2 day sushi/shashimi seminar in santa monica a year ago. (i know, sounds pretentious, doesn't it? i just love it, though) no worries sway. eat it anyway you want. but yes, i had a militant japanese chef lecture us about NEVER mixing soy sauce with wasabi. ("NEVA!") trick? wasabi is placed on top of cut, dip bottom of cut in soy dish.

anyway, i would ask for tobiko wasabi next time. tiny roe infused in wasabi sauce wrapped and on a bed of rice. depending upon the amount of wasabi used, it can be a fire alarm for the sinuses. also any type of squid salad with chili sauce is dynamite.

i could go on and on, but i won't . . .

I appreciate the help/advice, not that I listen...but you know that.
See I knew the wasabi soy sauce thing was blasphemous, but I like it. Maybe I'm just too low class to ever figure this out properly. I need a 'how to/equitette/ please translate what the fuck I'm eating' dvd to take home with my take out. I've had the sashimi and I didn't love it, but I just need to try it again, cause 1st times aren't always all that you wish. I've had squid with chilli sauce, I liked that.
Thanks Ragmop, I'm gonna try to step outta my bento box next time.

I love sushi...sashimi and the california rolls...I've learned to make my own, but it's never as good as what you find in the take-aways here...that's the REAL good stuff....Now I'm just waiting for my boy to take me to japan so I can get some REALLY good sushi...yum! :)
