So I've been a big fan of G. Love for years now (I've seen him live at least a dozen times). I even managed to hang out with him back stage once... but that's a whole other story. Anyhow, I ran across this guy Emil McGloin at CB's Gallery in NYC last week that reminds me of him. Man oh man, is this guy killer. He plays with a beat-box guy (kinda like Rahzel from The Roots) and upright bassist. Unbelieveable stuff. Kinda like folk meets hip-hop in a sort of jam/rock sort of way. Anyhow, if you have a sec I definitely recommend that you check him out: www.emilmcgloin.com (http://www.emilmcgloin.com). (photos, mp3s, tour dates, etc.). This guy is gonna be huge.

Awww man. That's a bummer. You missed a good one smileys/smiley10.gif. Well, I'm sure that Emil will have some other NYC shows soon. It looks like he's been tour a bit lately, but most of his upcoming dates are around New York for now. Anyhow, I'm definitely interested in hearing what you think of him live... 'cause I think he's slammin'

Awesome... actually, last night Emil was telling me that they're planning to start posting live performances to his web site (the first is apparently from his show at C-Note a few weeks back)... and that they're going to start inviting people to record and tape trade! I'm way excited about that one. Having seen him twice now it seems like each of his sets are pretty different. Perfect for that sort of thing.
Anyhow, I'll keep hitting the site and definitely let you know what pops up.
