Steve Wynn, who owns the Wynn hotel in Vegas, had made arrangements to sell the Picasso he owns. He put it up for auction, found a purchaser, and all arrangements were made. The weekend before $40 million was to be exchanged for the artwork, he showed the masterpiece one more time to some friends. As he backed up while talking to his friends, his elbow bumped the Picasso AND PUNCTURED IT!!!!!
According to the New Yorker, Wynn put his pinkie in the hole and observed that a flap of canvas had been pushed back. He told his guests, “Well, I’m glad I did it and not you.” Needless to say, the deal was off after that.
