View Full Version : Pet peeves?

What a stupid name, pet peeves, but I don't know what else you call it. It's not like it's my pet and I like to keep it around. It's all the other people that keep droppin off their stray shit within my personal circle of space...it's always everyone else isn't it?

I'm at the gym today on my lunch. I'm not there to get a date. I'm not there to talk. I'm not there to look pretty. I do recognize that I have a larger personal space circle than a lot of people, if you know what I mean, so I feel encroached upon more readily than the average person might,
BUT,
I'm on the crosstrainer, minding my own business, this guy comes over on the one right next to me. damnit. I am on the first of four identical machines, there was no need to go beside me, he could have gone on the 3rd or the 4th. So then as is my usual protocol in this situation, I continue on my machine until the next multiple of 5 minutes arrives (I don't know why I do this 5 minute thing. I really want to just get off right away, I guess I figure it looks rude, childish and socially inept-all of which I can be), then I move on.
I'm pretty sure this story makes me look just as stupid as 'in your space gym guy", but I don't care, that's my stray pet peeve shit.

some of my pet peeves:
-when people say exspecially, instead of especially
-when people say expresso, instead of espresso
-when people say pitcher, instead of picture
-all bad grammar, i guess

Sway, be thankful he's not the "get right on the trainer next you even though there's 5 other empty ones and then get on his cell phone and talk loudly for 30 minutes" guy that lurks at my gym. I wonder a lot doesn't anyone these days ever give a thought about anyone other than themself? I have gotten to the point I don't give a shit if it appears rude to get off and move to another machine right away...it IS rude to totally invade someone else's space not give a crap.

you're right Barefoot! I'm a good person. I deserve my space and doggone it, I don't care if people like me. (those guys are such idiots. I also don't like the ones that have to make loud grunting noises, like some weird prelude to sex noises and leave sweat fluid liberally around the gym. gross. don't like those kinda guys at all)

I'm right there with ya Sway and Barefoot. One of the things I hate is on the bus when someone sits next to me and there are about four empty seats around me. I am happy to be rude and get up and move. The bus is crappy enough without someone sitting in your lap.

I'm one of those people that always leaves a space (even in a bathroom cubicle)...and generally people do that around me too...I know what you mean about people sweating all over the place etc at the gym...gross!

I also think I'm slightly claustraphobic, hate more than 2 or 3 people in an elevator, hate people standing close to me...personal space please!

one of my pet peeves is money not being bank faced. drives me up a wall. i also have to have the toilet seat and lid down. i don't want to see in there.

what's bank faced?? All facing the same direction?

I hate other people in the kitchen when I'm in it trying to cook (and I emphasise trying)...it bothers me, and I just want to do everything myself...

it annoys me when my husband tries to discuss money- at 7:00am...he did it this morning- and it puts a bad start to the day...

I don't know if that is really much of a pet peeve- but I am annoyed about it right now!

werd, mama! Talking money usually pisses me off anytime (because of my lack of it) but I am not a morning person anyway.

to the left even

i dislike idiot drivers. be it the ones that can't seem to do the speed limit even when there's only a dozen other cars in a 5 mile span. or the ones that want to go 100 in rush hour traffic. if i can, i like to get where i'm going at least doing the speed limit. but, if it's obvious nobody's going anywhere anytime soon, then smile, have a coke and get your fucking foot off the accelorator.

that comes and goes for me with my father-in-law...he can be the dirtiest old man (PIG!)...and then turns around and does the nicest things for you...I haven't figured out how the 2 people live within the same man...

your right Barefoot- it's NEVER a good time to speak to me about $$$, it puts me on edge no matter what time it is...but it was especially bad this am;)

talkin about money usually never goes well..unless you have it.

it seems petty but i hate when someone says they'll call you (guy or girl) and they dont....that really erks me

another thing...dammit guys put the toilet seat down! i as well as other women dont want to have to put it down..just lookin at the toilet with the seat up grosses me out..i gotta all ninja my foot to push it down...JUST DO IT :)

eric caught on to that real quick. now the only time the seat or lid is up is when we have company.

here's my question to the ladies (and i'm by no means defending the men here) but why is it so hard for us to put the seat down, when they infact have to always put it up???

It's exactly the same movement, either up or down...I don't give a shit how it is when I find it...if I have to put it down, I put it down, cuz I know my boy/dad/mate has to put it up...ya get it?? I don't see why it bothers you all so much...but that's probably just me....

i'm by no means a germ-a-phobe, but when my math teacher in 4th grade told me that every time you flush a toilet it sprays out germs up to 3 or 4 feet, it just grossed me out to no extent lol that's why i taught mr sauce to put the lid down before he flushes.
if he forgets, we have company or the boys forget, it's no biggy. it's just something i prefer. like, driving the speed limit, filling my wine/martini glasses to the rim or having the TP roll from the top instead of the bottom.

it's irrational, but it bugs the crap out of me. just the way i like it.

lordy, look what I started here....
here's another, but again, not a pet, I don't look for these people, they randomly (I think) interject themselves in my day- super uber ultra maxi organized people. On the table, the silverware and napkins must be perpendicular to the coffee mug with an acceptable variance ratio of phi. If the tablecloth has a pattern of somesort it is important everyother object on the table is somehow lined up or related to the pattern. Maybe that's obsessive compulsive disorder, in which case I shouldn't be so critical, disease reduces culpability if ya didn't know. still annoying. I am sure a case could be made for the opposite end of the spectrum, my lair is in that neck of the woods.
