sorry to interrupt, but don't you just submit a portfolio, transcript, do an interview- at the places you'd like to be...then choose between the acceptance letters :)
how much do you figure a masters will cost you?

well, it doesn't seem to be that easy. I'm under the impression that it's quite competitive. Not sure how muh it will cost me, a lot of money that I don't have, that's for sure!!
I hope that it will be as easy as submitting and simply choosing, that will make my life easy!

yeah, I hear ya, it costs too much in my opinion, well maybe it depends how much support is required. They should have pro-rated plans for the independent learner that doesn't need a classroom, or much of a teachers' time.
maybe you should try the pictoral essay on 'blow', that'll wow em. or bring a painted homeless person to the interview. ;)

i am at wayne state university; wanted the degree to be from a different school than my undergrad one. for my thesis i am comparing the academic results of students who are a part of my district's laptop program to those who are not (3/4 of the kids in my school have their own laptop and bring it to school everyday - it's basically used as a tool. the curriculum is the same for all kids; those who don't have their own can use a school one, but can't bring it home). the degree is a bit pricey, but definately worth it b/c my pay raise is a 20% jump when i'm done. most teachers at my school have two masters b/c there's yet another payscale and we have to keep taking x amount of classes to keep our certificates currant anyway.
i don't really have any suggestions regarding getting accepted to the school of your choice. i only applied to one and got in right away. my husband, on the other hand, is a music teacher and has said it's a whole different ball game when you get into music, the arts, etc. i wish you the best of luck, and feel free to ask any specific question you may have; i'll do my best to answer them!

so how do the results look? just curious.
I get $50 extra a month for having a Bach. degree. I think I'd get another $50 if I got a masters. $50 month might pay off a masters with interest, if I continued on, without fail, till retirement, not much of an incentive there.

I am also getting my masters in ed. but I am doing the general master in education with a literacy focus. Just started in January.

the results are exactly what i expected: there is a positive relationshio between the use of technology and grades, but it also has to do w/more parental involvement and economics
sway, you're in nursing, right? i thought there was more incentive than that, but i guess not. i do have a few friends in nursing who have masters degrees, i guess i just always assumed so.
ben, what grade do you teach? i'm guessing elem., as your focus is literacy...
