hmm, yes we're in a drought...april 1 we go into stage 5 restrictions...which means NO outside water, short as hell showers (not even long enough for me to wash my hair properly or shave), and everything else that we can't do at the moment....

which includes:

No washing cars at home (only in water recycling commercial car washes)
No watering lawns unless you use grey water from washing machines etc
and lots of other shitty things...
ALTHOUGH, it's funny cuz I'm SO conscious of not wasting and saving water it's not funny...

Bananas are finally back to regular prices...not sure how much our farmers are getting (since there's a massive issue going on with dairy farmers) but at least we can get them at decent prices.

AND, as always we have a fuck of a prime minister, and David Hicks still hasn't been released, or legitimately charged with crimes, or been told he'll have a fair trial...but don't get me started on that issue...

Do a lot of people have grey water recycling thingys over there? I've been looking into some systems, but I don't water my lawn, I just let it go brown. I would like to try to xeriscape my outdoor environment (please use xeriscape in a sentence. What the fuck is xeriscape?)

I just saw Ragmop on here, but now he is gone....I was going to enlist his aid for the opinion section of my imaginary news reporting.

Plenty of people have grey watering systems...and a lot of the people in the affluent neighbourhoods are having to put signs on their fences saying that they use grey water, otherwise people will call the water police on them (and that's a fact!).

My boyf's parents have their shower/bath and washing machine water going into two 250lt wheely bins in their yard. Then his mum uses buckets and a watering can to water their lawn. I also know of other people who collect their shower water in buckets and water the lawn with that...we collect sink water and do that...and then there's attaching a water tank which is a big outlay but you get the benefit...

Today it rained for about 20 minutes...the most rain we've seen in months...our dams are about 30% capacity, which is jack really, and our state is by far the worst. It's too bad that our govt. didn't do shit about it until it was too late...we should've been on water restrictions 10 years or more ago....

And that's my essay for the day :)

same old story, huh?
I live in valley with rivers all around, last time there was a catastrophic flood was 1948. It seems that we are due for another, coupled with the facts of a huge snow pack, increased rain fall trend (a mild assessment in my view) and the potential for a late thaw , thus = disaster.

So it's the blame game, why didn't the previous government do anything. Who is going to upgrade the dikes? Why don't we have an additional tax?
blah blah blah
I am working on my emergency preparedness list. I have obtained bottle water, ok only 3 jugs so far- and I've got to get the manual canopener out of the trailer, in case there is no electricity for the other one and in case the trailer floats away. I'm on it...a busy busy bee...........hahaha, a drowing wet bee.

We have a huge resort/tourism town on the west side of Vancouver Island, Tofino. Last summer their water reservoir dried up after an extended hot spell. They ended up trucking water by tankers from the neighboring town, Ucluelet. Same thing, blame, blame, governments are so shortsighted, at least that is the ugly side that is always rearing its head. It's a vicious circle, or maybe just a boring neverending circle.

in my opinion, govts just do what they feel the need to do to get into power, they don't think long term. sucks for us.

Now there's talk of our major dam of water supply only having 60 days of water left...that's a bit scary...but as john mayer says "if they own the information, they can bend it all they want" so you don't know what's true!
