I'm headed to Squaw Valley Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe, CA to play the last show of the tour. It’s been an amazing tour and mostly all sold out. Thank you very much for your support. We swept through Texas and crushed it with a great show at Stubbs followed by our biggest and best show ever at the Warehouse in Houston.
I caught up with my Aunt Evie last night for some Vietnamese food before the show and had a great meal at some joint called Kim Sun. It was no Ong’s (Philly's Phinest) but not bad at all. Evie has seen many shows over the years but she said this was the best ever. A lot of peeps who've seen us over the years say we are sounding better and better. Jimmy Jazz and I were laughing saying it sounds the like the same old shit as it always did. Mark Boyce on the keys has really rounded out the sound. Anyway its growing and I secretly agree. Put in the work like my friend E Ramirez always says.
I was invited to drop a track with Blues Traveler the other day. I swung through the studio in Austin (Jim from Spoon was the producer). I got the track at noon, wrote my verse while I finished shaving, hit the radio station for promo, then straight to the studio. The song was tight. I dropped a verse, some background vocals and some harmonica. Of course, this was a big thrill for me as I've been a Blues Traveler fan since High School. John Popper is a true virtuoso on his instrument. Back in the day, I jumped the fence at the Mann Music Center in Philly to see BT open up for the Allman Brothers. It’s crazy because John Popper was arrested the night before the session in WA with guns in his car. Popper is a big time weapons collector. He's all about guns and knives. One time when I opened for them in Salerno, Italy he had some ancient samurai sword in a freaking road case. Go Popper! He's invited me out to the ranch to shoot but I never got the chance. Anyway, great job on the new record John. How the hell does he do that shit on the harmonica anyway???!!!??
There are rumblings of a slamming summer tour being put together. A co-headlining tour with G. Love and Special Sauce and Slightly Stoopid--now shhhhhh--don't go telling everyone yet cause it’s just a rumor.
Also in the world of GLaSS, my old friend’s Fun Lovin Criminals have asked me to do a track with them for their new release. I'm down
GLaSS will be writing a lot and getting ready to record our new record as well. We will be starting the project sometime in July for a 2008 release. Takes a long time huh??? So frustrating but this music business is a game and you have to play it or it definitely will play you.
Thanks to Redeye for joining us on tour.
That's it for now I just can't wait to crush it tonight and get home to see my kid.
Peace out
