Happy Easter everyone! Well I’ve had a great time in NYC this week and here’s the wrap up.
Thursday, I got up practiced for a bit then went to Sirius Satellite radio. I guested on Jimmy Buffett's Margaretville channel. My good friend Savannah Buffett was the host. I played a bunch of old blues tunes and some unrecorded new tunes as well as "Beautiful" from Lemonade.
Friday I hit the gym and walked around the city. NYC is possibly the best city in the world to walk around. I got some banging new guitar straps at the Matt Umanoff guitar shop on Bleaker in the Village. This is a classic shop and it’s been there forever. I love the Village and cant help but imagining Bob Dylan, John Hammond and all the other 60's greats walking around here--just some beatnik upstarts with a whole lotta soul.
We hit some clubs on Friday and Sat--Club Arena, Bungalow, Gold bar and the Rose bar at the Gramercy Park Hotel. I shook Hip Hop legend Russell Simmon's hand. My friend was out with American Idol 13th placer Marissa something. She’s very excited about her recent success...its wild who you meet out in NYC--I promise I only drop names in the blog.
Best club ties between my friend Jayma's Gold Bar and The Box. Great place for a cozy date--Employees Only in the West Village.
I almost forgot I went to the Moma Art museum for the afternoon on Sat. We saw Picassos, Van Gogh’s, Miro's, Monet’s--it was amazing to see some of the worlds most famous and important paintings so close. My favorite was Monet's "Water Lilies"
Tomorrow it’s up early and back to Boston to spend the day before tour. I woke up this morning with a great song to write running thru my brain…more on that later.
Peace out--enjoy your eggs and One Love
