Over at the Lolla forum.. they have G. Love coming to Lollapalooza August 2007. Anyone know if this if official or not? If so.. then THANK YOU G. LOVE for making that somewhat pathetic lineup SO MUCH better by coming.

I think that is a great line up!!!! Patti Smith, Iggy with the Stooges!!!!! And the list goes on....

Daft Punk? Has my head been in a hole in the ground? Last time I was in Paris they were all the rage. I didn't care for them too much then, but that was like 6 years ago. Guess I'll have to give them another listen.

Sweet Home Chicago!!!

Looks pretty official to me (http://www.myspace.com/lollapalooza).

I didn't realize it had moved to Chicago as such. Fun :)

I think G & the Sauce need to perform a revised version of Holla at Lolla.
(Oh yes, you can just hear those lyrics now!)
Uh huh, I am that cheesy!

Okay so back to the point of this post!
I was perusing the Lollapalooza website and they have a downloadable-to-your-ipod guide (http://lollapalooza.com/ipod.asp)to the fest that looks sweet! I haven't done it yet, but it looks like a smart idea.
It has song clips, pix, map, set times, etc and I think this is really great.
If you don't have an ipod, tough titty, I suppose, but if you do, you can take it with you pre-Lolla and actually to the fest instead of some big flip book of ads with a schedule in the middle. Big thumbs up to the person behind this idea.
At Bonnaroo this year, I got so sick of pulling my Roo Guide out to check the schedule that one day I just sewed it right on my pant leg for quick reference. This was brilliant at the time.

I also envied the guy who had a t-shirt with the whole schedule printed upside down so that when he looked at his gut, voilĂ* there were the shows he wanted to see!
It still might be helpful to have a print out so readily available on your person, but I like this electronic version...plus, it's environmentally friendly!

Nope, Thursday.
Might catch the Cubs game. My gal friend from Miami flies in noon-ish Thursday. Plan is to pick her up and then...?

I was just checking out the map...I didn't realize Buckingham Fountain is part of Grant Park. Cool! Okay, now I'm getting excited! (Not because of the fountain, just the whole it's gonna be here soon! factor)

Red Rocks is the bigger deal to me, but Lolla is going to be a good time in a great city.
(and that's my first official Lolla Woohoo!!!)

Flights start aroung $225, so I might do that, save me some time over driving. I can't wait, hang with the Sis's family, great music, new friends. I'm with you on Red Rocks though, I've been seeing great music at grant Park my whole life.

Have you guys seen this Battlepalooza off The Tribs site? They are looking for people to vote on bands to make it to the next round. They have youtube vidoes and myspace links. The GLaSS video is really bad, but they are doing well in the votes. GLaSS is up against Lupe Fiasco. S.S. is up against Winehouse. Check it out if you are so inclined.

Blurb...

The first round will end at noon on Wednesday, July 25. If you don't know every band member from "G. Love and Special Sauce" by the time Lolla starts ... well ... then you better not even show up.

Yeah I saw that, but I don't get it. At all.
Battle for what? I mean, they're all playing there already so what's the big prize?
Is it just some popularity contest? I really don't get the point of that.

It just seems like some marketing ploy to get people to visit that website to me.

I guess there is no point, but I am slightly competitive, okay more than slightly, so I voted. They got me hook line and sinker.

On another note.....Have you seen this?

http://www.lollapalooza.com/kidzapalooza.asp

G Love as a special guest on the kids stage Sat at 3:15? Think he'll be reading one of his childrens books or what?

Oh, so that's how you catch a shark!?! Play to their competitive nature?
I am so rarely competitive...no wonder I didn't get it! Competition for competition's sake. Hmmm  still scratching my head...

On Friday at 1, too, according to the page...before the GLaSS set that day.

But um...don't they have to be in Costa Mesa, CA on Sat nite?
The man is crazy to be rushing it like that, but I can't say I'm surprised.

What can I say....I'm easy.

Didn't even see that. I only knew he was there on Sat because someone posted a thread about it on the lolla boards which I just happened to look at the other day.

It's neck and neck with GLaSS up by a mere 5 votes. Iggy's down by 5. For shame.....

Funny enough Pearl Jam was out after the first round.

So...I'm taking the train from Milwaukee to Chicago tomorrow morning. So excited!!! About Lolla, but the train too I suppose. Only $45 roundtrip, and it's sure gonna beat sitting in traffic and paying for parking!
I'm going to the Cubs game Thurs afternoon with a friend flying in from Miami, and then...try to stay out of too much trouble so I'm rested up for Friday and the rest of the weekend. Wheeee!!!

I'm not sure what I'm most excited about seeing.

Heeheehee, it'd make for some hilarious pix, and I think I could probably fix it with a diff haircut the very next day...but...um...yeah, yikes! I certainly couldn't walk around like that.

I think i'll just enjoy watching the nuts who DO do it.

Well, I could hear Perry Farrell diddly-dee-bopping out the song "Been Caught Stealin" from across the park, but I sure missed out on his band Satellite Party play today (but not because I was getting a mullet!).
I did happen upon the mullet folks today and they told me that nobody got a mullet today. hahaha awesome!
There was so much good music today...getting a mullet is one thing but saying "I missed so-and-so because I was getting a mullet" would really be lame.

Me, I had just left the GLaSS show and was in dire need of a cold one.
