can't you get enough of this week?
For me, every week or so, there is some song I glom onto, it doesn't have to be something new to me, it just happens to hit me the right way at the right time. Every time it comes up in the shuffle, it make me smile, then I hit the + + + a few times on the volume. Then I might repeat it again. Then it becomes the first song every time I turn the music on. Then, this too, shall pass, either I play it too much, or else something else hits me.

anyway this week for me it is 4000 miles by J5 and blackalicious, if I could eat it up, I would. ("instrumentals blending like cinnamon, rice and peas")

"The final destination used to be my main question
But then I looked and all that I was searchin for was present"

For me at home, it's this mellow, floaty, acoustic version of "Spectrum" by Zach Gill of ALO (it's on his MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/zachgill)). I just love the thick syrup of his voice and the harmony he pours over this version of the song.

But, in my car, it's a different story completely. It's a live version of "Booty Call" from a show in Colorado a few years back. I had a flirty little reunion a couple nites ago with a guy I hadn't seen in 2 years, and he's looking hotter than ever. When I got in my car that nite, all abuzz with this sexual energy, Booty Call was the first thing that played. Couldn't have been more perfect, and I have had it on repeat almost ever since.

Keep in mind that I don't spend much more than 5-10 minutes in my car each day. I'm spoiled by living in my little small town feeling spot on the beach.

hmm...i'm really into Missy Higgins at the moment, she's got some new stuff out now and I love it!

Also into the Fray's How to Save a Life, and JT's what goes around....so sad, but I love commercial radio :)

I've been reliving my youth as of late, volenteering my time to set up an art/music show in Chicago involving all generation of the scene from the 70s till now. So for me it's been The Toy Dolls any and all, but especially 'Blue Suede Shoes", and any song where they rock the kazoo.

It's a lot of work for sure, and expensive insurance and all. So I've been researching grants for the arts both Gov and private, which I now know are really hard for an individual to get. Some how I don't think the IRS would find us to be a good fit for nonprofit status. So now I'm on to nonprofit galleries that have received grants. It's looking good so far I've found several that do both music and exhibits.

Stephen Marley's Traffic Jam has been my song these past few weeks. I cannot get enough of the CD. Little R love Inna Di Red, when she is riding I think we listen to it at least two times in a row. Infact while planning her 6th birthday party she asked me if Stephen Marley would play her party. Isn't that wild, she has also requested the presence of SS and GLASS. That's my girl. One Love.

I'm on the big D bent for sure, this past while. Everyday when I get in the car to work, mr. novocaine be the first song. everytime I finish a run and sit on my mat in the lotus pose, it be mr. novocaine. But I've got to be careful, funny for someone that turns internally more often than to the external world, I am like a sponge of whatever emotions are around, in my house, in my ears, you know. (I know I've mentioned this before, but I've only listened to that breaking up song off lemonade, maybe twice, not a reflection on the song, but a testament to G for the connectedness I can feel whether I want to, or not).
Anyway I temper the mr. novocaine, with live from the other side. the ying and the yang of it all. Hey Mistah G Love, can't you bring your friend Don on the summer haze tour, how else will I get to see him....well at least the vegas date. ;) winky winky for the stinky pinky. he hehee

well, this morning driving to work, going around the corner, simultaneously trying to flick between the novocaine and the other side (thing 1 and thing 2), my coffee cup rolls out of the holder and into my seat, as I finish executing my left hand turn, I feel the warm&wet wicking down the slope from my thigh to you know where. oh lovely day, luckily I am wearing my shiny pants that came with the Meters anthology, a rare and sold out version, bile colored capris, hot item, anyway the coffee for the most part just beaded on the outside, quick drying fabric, and now I be left with the memory of the Moist, and a vague caffeinated shadow, when the light shines just right.

yeah these are my pants. (why shalan, why, are you taking a picture of your pants and posting it on a forum, is the answer because the forum is akin to crack for you...why don't you go outside and play?)

i like the shirt. what's the top of it look like?

sway2sway
06-20-2007, 02:08 AM
the top has a collar and short little sleeves, sad thing is I know I've posted a picture of it somewhere on here before (further evidence for the forum/crack theory). But the pants I got for $3.99 at the second hand store the other day (well the shirt is 2nd hand too, have I mentioned I feel buying second hand clothes is the best way to help reuse some of societies waste as well as not contribute to the sweatshop industry) and they are shiny and make a rustling noise when I walk. I do not know if they are a polyester/viscose blend (as I claimed in my Meters pants offer) because there is only one little tag written all in chinese. Which explains the pants a bit better, chinese shiny pants, is this stereotoyping? chinese people like shiny clothes.

Yeah I like the shirt too, and the picture(well what I can see of it. Botticelli?), and I really like your name.

I like Amy Winehouse too liet, I'm not really familliar with her stuff. I did catch her performance on the MTV Movie Awards (why was I watching I don't know, having not seen any of the movies, I didn't watch too long), and I must say it looked like she needed to go to rehab.....I hope to see her a Lolla.

The new Missy Higgins album is on my playlist rotation right now...it's also my phone ringtone...and I drove all the way to Ballarat to see her play in a tiny little woolshed (about a 1.5 hour drive). As far as songs go, Where I stood...pretty sure she has a myspace page, so if you want, check it out :)
