Just swooped up the new album today. Likin what I hear so far. If u liked chris on his first solo morning euphoria you will like him here. Its personal and slow rather than upbeat and heavy from audioslave..

Cool I really dig him, and have since Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog. I think my sister just saw him in Chicago, though I've yet to get a review.

I'm sure it's not much consolation, but you're not the only one who feels that way Bo.
I just read a pretty good interview with Chris Cornell (http://tinyurl.com/25gvjh)in Milwaukee's local alternative paper, the Shepherd-Express.

In the interview, he talks a bit about his solo album and the musical direction he is interested in pursuing...and how it doesn't fit so neatly in the same category as his Soundgarden and other previous music.

“I’ve been sort of battling the whole genre issue since I’ve been making records, really,” he continues. “I always felt like I should be like the Beatles and just do what I want. If they can do ‘Yesterday’ and ‘Helter Skelter,’ then I should be able to do the same thing.”

And so the stifled singer branched out considerably on his latest disc, much to many fans’ disappointment. Carry On largely tempers the heavy grind of Cornell’s past bands in favor of softer singer-songwriter reflections and stabs of studio-polished rhythm and blues.

I like Cornell's voice and I've got free tix for tonite, so I figured, what the heck. Shark's glowing endorsement of the show last nite doesn't hurt, either ;) Nice shot, btw.

Thanks Ang-a-lee. I await your opinion. Here's the shot I took right before that one. It would've been great.....ARG!!! So there I was frantically waving I didn't get it! I didn't get it! So glad it worked out on the next shot.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I really like Chris Cornell's voice, he has amazing range and power.
I can't say I've ever been a follower of any of his bands, but I did like the music. The whole grunge thing (doesn't that sound silly now?) was becoming popular right at the time I entered high school, so I remember many of the Soundgarden & Temple of the Dog songs as part of the soundtrack to those days.

Overall, I was impressed with his stage presence, and the show highlighted his talent as a vocalist. I think also that it showed a delightfully softer side of him than most of his long time fans expected to see. The largely male audience was attentive and very into the show, but there was a sense of "Come on, play something heavier, man!" when Cornell broke out the acoustic and played solo. There was no mosh pit, and I think a few people came expecting that.
The crowd did eat it up, though, singing along boldly to acoustic versions of "Fell on Black Days" and a few other numbers.

He and the band did play a ton of the songs that he's known for from his bands, like Spoonman, Rusty Cage, My Way, Hunger Strike, and of course Black Hole Sun.
It was hot and sweaty in the Eagles Ballroom, so when the band returned to the stage for the encore, the two guitarists had both taken their shirts off, becoming bare-chested bookends on the stage, to the crowd's delight.
I think everyone in the place wanted to take their shirt off, it was stuffy as hell in there.

I also added "Like A Stone" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5U-S21uOsk) and "Say Hello to Heaven" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4kKU3YBUrA) tonite.
