The Echo Project, the upstart music and arts festival coming to South Fulton this fall, just keeps getting bigger.
Thursday, organizers announced the first additions to the lineup following last week's inaugural round of acts. They've added Thievery Corporation, Les Claypool, the Bravery, Secret Machines, MSTRKFRT, JJ Grey & Mofro, Son Volt, the Egg, the Album Leaf, Man Man, Tea Leaf Green, the Benevento-Russo Duo, Lazaro Casanova and Telepath.
Last week, organizers announced the first batch of acts — including the Killers, Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh, the Roots and Cat Power — for the fest, which will be held Oct. 12-14 The event will take place on a nearly 350-acre site along the Chattahoochee River along the border between Fulton and Douglas counties.
Early bird tickets ($120) are still on sale at www.the-echoproject.com and 1-800-594-TIXX.
as great as the line up is i'm also really excited about the fact that one of the goals of the festival is to help clean up the chattahoochee. it's also very focused on the type of energy used and waste management. the goal is to leave the area better than it was before the festival. the organizers are working with sustainable waves and rivers alive.
oh, and moe. has been confirmed!

I vote for Mofro and ALO, but maybe that's just me ;)
I'm excited for you to see the Avetts for the first time, Tink. A 3pm set shoud be a nice mid-afternoon pepper-upper.
Might I suggest a double espresso http://smiley.onegreatguy.net/idea.gif immediately prior so you can keep your foot stomping at the same pace as those crazy boys will be playing?!?

I like that they're not allowing styrofoam coolers. Those things are crap and shouldn't even be made anymore!
Also, no flicking of cigarette butts!

it was a great weekend. we heard going in that they had only sold 8,000 tickets. i don't know how accurate that number is, but it was on the empty side. of course that made it nice to be able to get up close. overall it was pretty good for a first (and maybe last) festival. the location was good and the weather was fantastic. it got up to the 80's, but there was a nice breeze and the nights really cooled down as well. there was a ton of great music, but mofro and the avetts had to be my favorite shows.

:D High Five!
You're home early then, aren't you? I'm guessing you didn't hang out for Phil Lesh & Friends.
Glad you enjoyed those two bands. Not that I'm surprised or anything ;)
What about moe and Umphrey's?

i've seen them before. they're pretty good, but not really revolutionary to me. i see them as a good group to chill out too. unfortunately i wasn't in a chill out mood, so i wondered back and forth during their set.
