just did some research about celiac and pregnancy. the main thing is folic acid since most people get it mainly through wheat.

sway2sway
11-03-2007, 04:35 PM
yeah spina bifida isn't good. I never thought of that, it's mostly been eradicated because they fortify everything that is wheat with it....so now I see even more why that is a very good thing to find, a veritable gem for a girl like you.

tinkerlion
11-03-2007, 06:19 PM
i was also happy to learn that as long as i stick to a gluten free diet i have no other celiac related concerns.

Going on a real kids free date with your husband.

Oh yeah till you get home and the new baby sitter says she meant to tell you that hourly quote was per child, and now you've paid a 16 year old $50 for the pleasure of sending your prime rib back twice, becuase you wanted it medium well, and it still came out oozing blood....oh darn wrong thread.

Oooh, good one sway. Especially for a mother.
On a similar note . . .

Being the only person (but far from the only living thing) on the beach at sunrise.
Only the sounds and the view and the birds and the breeze and the light as it washes over everything.
It's so renewing, something I really needed right now.

A a a h . . .

ah, yeah sunrise...nothing better than taking a run down to the beach in the summer time and watching the sunset...to feel good inside from the run then to watch the mother at work....beautiful

I'm harder to get up in the morning, so it's sunset for me! :)

you might call me simple minded if I were to sell my reliable 94 tercel for this old tank.
but it's so pretty though.....

man, you guys are bringing memories back for me..... i went on a camping trip to Baja, mexico for 3 weeks and everyday, i woke up before the sun rose and watched it rise, it was the best thing ever for me and I would sit there everymorning with my coffee watching the sun rise and just letting all my stress and worries flow away! sooooooo nice!:D

In no particular order:

* Watching my children sleep.
* Digging my barefoot toes in nice, cool sand.
* Being the last one to go to bed at night so I can enjoy the quiet house all to myself. Which also leads me back to watching the children (and Mr.) sleep.

I'm heading down the coast tonight to stay with my sister for a few days...

I love driving down the freeway to the coast by myself (or with my dog in the car) listening to what I want, taking my time, and when I hit the coast, I love the chill of life down there...not a worry in the world :)

I was gonna say fresh batteries for the vibrator, but I really should pare it down to it's simplest element, huh? yay for masturbation. and yay for masturbation when you're wearing the new jammies fresh out of the dryer and the clean sheets on the bed and no cat around to pounce on you midway, screwing up the flow. the end.

Awww yeah, I am going down to the FL Keys this week again for 2+ days and enjoy a similar feeling as I stop at all my fave spots along the way.
It's bye-bye city life and hello coral rock no-man's-land but it's great and it's an escape and really what I'll miss when I leave Miami....sigh...

The best is that when I finally arrive in Key West I get to have yummy creamy Key Lime Pie on a stick at the Blond Giraffe (http://blondgiraffe.com/products.htm)!

How come everything good is better on a stick?

Paula Dean had some absolutely disgusting stuffing on a stick (http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_82075,00.html) yesterday that sounded deeeee-lish (if a little gross...she deep-fried it after she stuck it on said stick. She deep-fried other things too, but that was overkill and a half).

Wait, Sway is this yours, or do you just covet it? (i.e. the lengthy description has me confused)
It is a beauty. I want a big old rickety house in the country and a beat-up old one of these to ramble around in.

I am working to free myself, not encumber myself, no matter what a pearl she may be.

Ah, I understand.
Me too. Downsizing majorly, pre-Navy. It's a lot of work, all this freeing myself. How's that for irony?

Sometimes I just wish there'd be a flood or fire or something then I'd end up without all this junk and my life in boxes.
I'd miss some things, but life would go on. How come I feel the need to hold onto all this crap, pictures, memories, old t-shirts, etc?!?

They're simple pleasures (trying to get back on track). all these things, I suppose...like finding that one red shirt you haven't worn in a year...it does cause me to emit a cry of glee, but when I completely forgot about it after all this time, it obviously isn't that near or dear to me, and life without it was mighty fine and dandy.

Have I asked you before if ou've been to MonkeyJungle (http://www.monkeyjungle.com/)? I'd never heard of it before, and we were driving back from a weekend i nthe keys and saw the sign. I think it worth the stop.

When Joseph DuMond, an inquisitive animal behaviorist, released six monkeys into the wilds of a dense South Florida hammock in 1933, he didn’t realize his endeavors would help shape the attitudes of many in the primatological and zoological fields. The release fifty years ago of that small Java troop signified the beginning of the larger thriving troop that runs free at MONKEY JUNGLE today.

Located just off U.S. 1 in South Dade, MONKEY JUNGLE was an innovator of many of the concepts currently seen in the design of zoological parks. It is home to nearly400 primates, most running free on a 30 acre reserve. It is one of the few protected habitats for endangered primates in the United States and the only one that the general public can explore.

I see your crisp, clean sheets and raise you SEX ON BRAND NEW SHEETS.

Another fave is putting on brand new undies right after a nice, close shave

And sunsets at the beach are definitely awesome. The boys, hub, a friend and I went to the beach the first weekend in November and were blessed with clear, sunny days all 4 days we were there, which meant brisk, GORGEOUS sunsets all 3 nights. Of course, it was windy and cold as fuck, but nothing invigorates you better than a sharp, fresh sea breeze through your hair while you're staring at the most vivid colors in the world, listening to the crash and roar of the waves. I swear, every night in the last 2 minutes of the sunset before she slipped behind the water, everyone on the beach just STOPPED to revel in the beauty.
Simply Amazing.

Being able to turn the heat on to warm up your home instantly!

I don't have heat in my house, however. :( I have window A/C units and fans, only. So, since the temps dipped last nite (miami.com says it's 50 degrees right now!?!), I am now wearing socks, sweats, a hoodie sweatshirt, and 2 blankets. And I just woke up (a little too early) because I'm still cold.

Yes, I am a cold weather wuss. But also, realize that represents nearly 30 degrees of temperature difference in just a day's time. Yipe!

Which all makes me long for just one more simple pleasure...a snuggle buddy!

From First in Flight-

I never hesitate about a reluctant mind
Just put the pedal to the metal see what ya find
You back there slouchin over won't you pick up your spine?
Let's make it really really happen live up this time
Cause you can choose to say Good morning God or Good God, morning
With black clouds storming
I walk without umbrellas into these woods
Don't need em cause the mighty trees will shelter me good
I'm eating berries from the bushes of the heavenly good.
...
Let your mind and your soul be free
Work to shine, meet your goal, believe
Spread that kind of L-O-V-E
Take some time off the lonely.

How about . . . going to bed at night, eagerly awaiting something you get to experience the next morning? I haven't felt like this in awhile; I'm like a little kid on Christmas Eve!

I'll post about the planning early morning "simple pleasure" tomorrow, IF, it is all I am imagining in my crazy little brain!

In the meantime, I'm enjoying this childlike feeling in my head right now.

Ohmygawwwd!

I just got back from swimming laps. With my ipod on, while I was swimming.

It is like dancing underwater!!! :):p:D

I swam laps for over an hour straight. I usually get bored after 20 minutes. This is awesome! Even surpassed my expectations. Woot!!!

I've been swimming laps for a few weeks now, thinking, God, this is sooo boring. If only I could have some music down here with me...http://forum.philadelphonic.com/images/icons/icon3.gif

I was visiting the owner of the dive shop down the street yesterday, and he was complaining about parking tickets. Oh, did I have a deal for him! I got him a bunch of visitor parking passes for the neighborhood so he can park the store's van/truck they use for trips. From now through the end of April (that's 4 months without tickets or feeding a meter)
He said "What do you want in return, some new chancletas or something?" He knows the Reef ones are my favorites.
I don't need more flip flops, but I have been eyeing the underwater ipod case (http://www.swimoutlet.com/product_p/5326.htm) for awhile.
He said "Deal." I grinned.
Giddiness ensued, but it was no match for the smile on my face every time my little head popped up for air today at the pool.
Oooh, rock me Amadeus!

Yep, I'm a happy little nerd girl. Now all I need is a mermaid tail and gills so I can go live under the sea forever...

I almost peed like a puppy.
At first I couldn't get the headphones to stay in my ears right, but I took them off the headband thingy and just stuck them over my ears and it worked much better. The bass underwater is better, too, for some reason.

If I ever have a pool at my house, I want underwater speakers in the pool. (If I can afford having a pool in the first place, that can't cost much more, right?) There's a pool at this spa/hotel nearby that has sound underwater, but it was not my favorite homemade playlist!

Did you try popping off the "t", "y", and "s" keys (and any others) to clean around them?

Since it's obviously working, you are lucky! Cleaning the heck out of it seems to yield good results as far as the keys are concerned. I cleaned my keyboard a while ago using this guide (http://www.computing.net/howto/simple/keyboard/) and it worked like a charm.

I love tea!! I was all excited about a book I bought middle B that came with a little tea set. The book said it had recipes, which I assumed would be for tea. The girls like to have hot tea. Well that wasn't the case. They were for cookies and what not. Tried to make some Monday night, added 2 tbsp of milk instead of tsp, and wound up with choc. banana pancake like thingies after adding more flour to the soupy batter. That is exactly why I don't bake. I'm just no good at following directions/measuring.

beautiful shark. I love all the colors right now. I'd like to have one of those yards where something is always in bloom, a temporal domino effect, but I can't seem to get my gardening shit together. The only real addition to my yard in the 5 years I've been here is a lilac bush and a plum tree. I tried a daisy flower garden- my dog dilligently dug it up. I've got plans to try harder....

I really have a passion for gardening. It was really strange to move in here and have such extensive gardens that someone, who doesn't garden like me, had planted. I just watch them for the first two cycles. Now I'm making them mine.

That's 3 people sweating for 5 hours, and I still have more work to do. That's just one small bed of many. Luckily I've no need to buy any plants, I've just been moving and splitting.

I'm not in Miami anymore...and though I don't really think I took the sun and ocean for granted, I sure do appreciate how much more reliable and warm it was there compared to Monterey.

But today, the fog seems to have vanished (for the moment at least), and the sky is all bright and blue, nary a cloud's in sight. We climb up the hill to do PT at 2pm today, and I bet I'll actually be able to see the ocean for the first time. And my unexposed-to-the-sun-since-May skin may actually get some color appropriate for the season.

Can't wait!

My soul NEEDS some CA coast so badly right now. Lake Tahoe is the closest thing to a beach I'll be seeing this weekend. But if I hang in there and bide my time..... I will be coastal bound soon enough, Ang. :D

I cannot wait for home ownership someday. It would be so nice to put down roots somewhere I call my own. Until then, planters work well..just a bitch to move them.
