Yo. Great show last night. Loooong... I'm not an expert on the band, but this show was something special to me. I got there (with two of my very drunk lady friends) right when the doors opened at 8, and we grabbed some real estate front and center. Louque was great, and I hope they do well, because I really dig their sound. And you gotta love the guy on the keys with the apple computer and a ton of effects... a mini Jonny Greenwood or somethin.

Anywho, after them, there was a pretty long break before GLASS came out (over 30). But they came out at 10:35. I felt like a tool taking a ton of pics and writing down the setlist in the front row, but I've noticed that the setlist department has been lacking as of late, so I hope you appreciate it, even with my ignorance. Here's what I got, correct me, please:

1 ?
2 Dreamin'
3 Freestyle
4 Recipe.... Jimi Solo
5 Back of the Bus (new song)
6 Garbage Man... Chuch Treece on drums
7 Kill it and then bring it back to life
8 Rhyme for the summertime... Chuck on drums, House' on Vocals
9 Baby's got sauce
10 Lets make love tonight
11 Cold Beverages
----
(Encore)
(Solo Acoustic:)
12 Gimme Some Lovin
13 Lonesome Blues
14 When We Meet Again
15 Herb
16 Booty Call
(Acoustic With Band)
17 Rodeo Clowns
18 On 9-11-01
(Back to 'Lectric)
19 Parasite
20 Freestyle Oldschool Rap... Chuck on set, House on bongos and wood blocks
21 Kick Drum
22 Unified
23 I-76

Show Ended at 12:50
Total G. Love show time: 2:20

If you were at the show and can help me with the opening tune and let me know who rapped with G (20).

I thought it was a great, well thought out setlist. After some tuning problems early, it took him two or three good songs to get in the groove, but they got locked on pretty quick. He did a good number of unreleased songs, as well as two Electric Mile songs, along with the staples. Everyone seemed in good spirits the whole time. G played good harp, especially on the extended Kick Drum. Insane guitar solo on Parasite. A lot of freestyle for his hometown. A few nasty cracker girls got up on the stage on My Baby's Got Sauce and I-76, whatever. Also, 5 solo acoustic songs, thats a whole set in itself. Can't get enough of that acoustic blues in C.

Security was tight, and I'm sure the band had a lot of friends there, so they didnt want nothing to do with us riff raff off the street... Oh well, next time.

So yeah, it was chill. I took a ton of good pics, which I'll put on my site and put a link up here sometime this evening.

Great review, Thanks.

Perhaps the first song is "don't drop the funky beat" cause they often play it in first position on this tour (check the march setlist)

Hey again. I think you're right about the opening song, thanks Fred. Also, I forgot to ask.. Did anyone tape the show? I think this would be a good one to have. I dont have any of their boots, but if someone does have some good stuff I'll try to make it worth your while, I'm a generous guy.

Like I said, I have about 20 good pics which I loaded to my geocities site. Unfortunately, anytime I upload this much at one time, it cuts out and stops workign for a few hours, so if it stops working just keep it in mind and check back the next day. There are also a few from the Columbia Show March 4, which was a lot smaller.

Anywho, they're at:

Nice, thanks for the setlist and review. People have been getting lazy on reporting back after shows, so it's appreciated. Excellent pictures too, what do you shoot with?Edited by: brijahn

Yeah man, good stuff. I was just using a Kodak Easy Share DX 4330 digital camera (3.1 Megapixels). No flash mostly.

Also, I forgot to post this, but just in case there are any guitarists who see this, G played 9-11-01 with this chord progression:

E C
E C
E C G D

That was the only song I was watching closely, though.

Brijahn,
I just checked out your music list, and I'd like to know if you'd be interested in trading a G concert for some Radiohead boots, which is all I've got now, Namely one concert from last august (2cds), and another of Two Thom Yorke solo sets... So if you're down with that just send me your email and I'll send you the specs.

I'm curious, How long have you known the band? Cause that was pretty awesome. I must say I'm jealous.

yeah philly show was reall dope... just curious integritous if you were the reall tall kid in the front of the stage. if you were, i was like right behind you like 5 feet from the stage right in front of G. also, who were the hot asian ladies dancing to the side like all night!? man... looked lovely from where i was at!smileys/smiley2.gif

hey jackyjo,
Yeah, i was one of the white crackers in the middle in the front. I had a blue baseball hat on and a jimi hendrix shirt. yeah, those girls on the side of the stage were not bad at all. Actually, it was when i saw them that i thought to my self, "okay, there's no way G is going to want to party with me tonight." Too much competition, you know. thats the problem with straight guys trying to meet bands... there's no real incentive for the band to meet you. So yeah, i really want to be a musician now.

Awesome review. It is much appreciated. Also,it sounds like you all had a killer time. Totally jealous but hopefully I will get to the Urbana show. Its really cool getting to know you all on line and stuff. I think GLaSS should play all us members a private show. After all...we are the biggest fans and it would be cool to meet each other.

Aside from that...i heard a cool quote today I'd like to share with you guys~

"Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance."

Nothing feels as good as dancin' to G.Love!!

HA... small world.. No, we didnt get to hang out with G, there was too much security and too many people already backstage. And I think that girl was probably just talking, you know. Do you live in philly?

jackyjo
