I'm sitting on this crappy USAir flight from Charlotte to NOLA. I had a big breakfast in Beantown but now I'm hungry again. I'm famished. My mouth is watering, my stomach is growling. Every time I look at the inflight magazine and see a picture of some good victuals, my gullet cries out in a panging whimper that only the cuisine of New Orleans can cure.

The minute I get off this damn plane, I'm jumping the first cab I see. I don't care if it’s a yellow, white, green, red or no name cab. I'm telling the cabbie to take me to Mother's. Mother's is the bomb place to get poboys, gumbo, red beans and rice with andouille sausage, catfish, jambalaya, sweet potato pie and any other infamous New Orleans signature dishes. I'm about to wait in that line (there's always a line) and order me up something good. I'm gonna get 2 or 3 oyster poboys fully dressed, red beans and rice with sausage and some gumbo. I'm gonna eat that red beans and rice right there and mac down half a poboy as well. I'm gonna take whatever leftovers I have to the bus and eat that good Mother's cooking all week till its done. You hungry yet??

That's what I'm talking about. I'm playing the HOB tonight. They have some alright food there but it sure ain’t nothing like the real gastronomy of the dirty, dirty south. You hungry yet??

New Orleans is definitely one of the best food towns in the world and I love everything they cook. The crawfish, the beignets, the Muffelta. Greens, turkey necks, cabbage with andouille, fried chicken cutlet (or anything) over red beans and rice and deep fried turkey in peanut oil. Hurricanes, daiquiris, 151 wipe outs, Abita beer the list goes on. There is just so much to eat, drink and be merry about in Nola.

And then, of course, the music. So much music. I've spent so much good and freaky time in New Orleans. I really can't tell you how happy I am to be going to play there once again today. I feel like the winters almost over and spring is in the air. I'm going down south where the whether suits my clothes.

Peace and good eats!

G

And there's yet another song he should cover: "GDTRFB" (http://cdbaby.com/mp3lofi/olga2-12.m3u)

Hell yeah I'm hungry! That's just not right to tempt my tastebuds with all that goodness like that. :p

i've got a momma that can cook up a cajun storm! her side of the family is in louisiana and i can definitely relate to pining for some of that deliciousness. i dont know how many times ive had to explain crawfish etoufee to kids after they asked what my favorite food was and i think its been my birthday dinner for the last decade. anyways, glad you're gettin the good stuff! see you tomorrow nite!

Or a United Cab? Have I mentioned enough just how much I dig this song, and Jeffreys' voice? Hope hope hope it makes it on to the new album. http://download.yousendit.com/F42B891E70C07C15

Or a United Cab?

I love it too, Shark! I'd settle just to hear it at a show, though, it would fit the "City Livin'" theme . . .
