Hey y'all what's going on?!? I wanted to tell you about some of the cool happenings I've been digging lately.

First off, while I've been waiting on the release of my new record Superhero Brother (release 6/24/08) I've been spending a lot of time in NYC. I saw some cool flicks like Anamorph and Iron Man and caught up with John Hammond at BB Kings on 42nd st. John played a very inspired set at BB Kings. Drawing from his most recent release Push Comes To Shove (produced by G. Love), as well as many timeless classics, John stomped his foot and blew the shit out of that marine band harmonica.

Every time I see John it becomes increasingly more emotional for me. When he plays I see my whole adolescence and adult life flash before my eyes. John is my second father--the father of my music and when I see him connect with his guitar and the feelings of the songs he sings I am overcome with emotion. Tears well up and the chills fly down my spine. I thank God that I was lucky enough to find his record when I was 17 searching to find myself and my sound. When I found that John Hammond record "Country Blues", I found the beginning of what I was searching for. From the first note I knew this was the truth. I got to see John after the show and it’s just like coming home man. Thanks for the music John!

After that show I was fully inspired for the debut of my new side project, "The Phamily". We played this past Sunday at Matt Murphy’s in Brookline, MA to a slamming full house. MM's holds about 75 people. The show was unannounced so I really don't know how all those peeps ended up down there but the vibes were thick. The Phamily is a trio. G. Love, Timo Shanko (bass) and Tom Arries on drums. The Houseman sat in as well as Riggity Ry from the Princes of Babylon. We probably won't do any more gigs till the fall as I'm gearing up to head out on tour but if you live in the Boston area keep a heads up. We do it Phamily style kid!

Well, that's about it for me I'm off to Peoria, IL for the Moedown this weekend. It will be great to get down with the Special Sauce for a gig. We are pretty much working every weekend till the record release tour with Jack Johnson in Europe on June 24th.

Tickets are selling fast for the Block Party Tour with John Butler so make sure you get yours.

See you soon--Peace, Love and Happiness

Had the pleasure of catching both you and John in Chicago at different venues the same niight this past February. He played an early gig, and then we ran a bit late to your gig at the Riviera. We tried like hell to convince him to swing by the Riviera to see you, but he declined.

A new GLaSS convert who was with me at both shows remarked that G is John Hammond with a light show. Flippant, yes, but still but nice to draw the comparison.
