Well, while taking some time to focus on playing live with the
new band, I've been able to squeeze in a recording of a new
song.

This one has a reggae-ish sort of vibe to it...and before anyone
complains that there's a lot of background noise in the
beginning...it's meant to be there (for various reasons). This is
all done with acoustic guitars, bass, vocals, and a drum
machine...oh, yeah, and a shaker. During my first mix down, I
did manage to some how save over my original lead vocal
(doh!), but fortunately I had a couple other (not as good) takes
to chose from when mixing this version.

Let me know what you think of the mix and basically anything
else you might want to comment on.

Sounds good man. Very Sublime-ish. You have a good sound. I didn't know you had the equivalent of an entire EP available on your website. Looks and sounds good!

I like the info in your forum on your recording process. Very informative.

. . . .and let me know if you get out of SF and do some shows on the other coast. I book acts at a local music cafe and could hook you up here in South Florida.

Peace,

I like the tune and lyrics a lot, and your voice has a nice tone/quality to it, but I think you need to "open up" a bit on the singing, it almost sounds like your afraid to make a mistake so you hold back. Good stuff though, really liked it.

hey OnePump! Thanks for listening!

Actually, that's a scratch vocal that was used on this song. Sad
to say, but in my process of bouncing back and forth on my 8
track recorder I managed to record over my "real" vocal track
which I believe was much better. It was a little annoying, but
since I was done with the recording and REALLY didn't feel like
re-recording it AGAIN. i just said f**k it, and kept it. so...that's
my explanation there. thanks!

Yea I get that way with my stuff as well. After you spend a lot of time on a good vocal track its really hard to go back and do it again. Have you thought about going digital? Like pro-tools on the computer? No worries about 8 track bouncing. Virtually unlimited tracks. Of course you can still record over a good track by mistake....

Yeah, I am in digital, and yeah, as you mentioned, you can
STILL record over a track (which sucks...especially being as
important as the freakin' vocals)...

I'm actually on a Roland VS-880EX which has virtual tracks as
well, but I still need to bounce a few times.

I've messed with some PC/Mac recording, but since I've got the
Digital recorder, I figured, this can do most of what the
computers can do, plus it's got mastering options and tons of
nice sounding effects. I'm pretty happy with it.

you got any tunes i can check out?!

hey thanks!

we're pulling together just the home recordings for now onto
CD to try and get gigs, and hand out (or sell very cheaply) at
some out at shows. other than that...we're kind of light on the
CD front. I think there's like 8-10 songs to put on it.

thanks for the interest! smileys/smiley4.gif
