I just wanted to get a feel for how everyone trades Live Shows, GLaSS or any band. I've been using Bit Torrent a lot recently, I think it is simple, quick, and effective. Of course I trade a lot through the mail as well, I enjoy the human factor of it!
Here's some links to information for each listed above:
Snail Mail and B&P's:
etree.org (http://www.etree.org/bnp/index.html)
Look for offers on your favorite band's forums (like this one)
http://www.mcnichol.com/bnp/
FurthurNet - Excellent P2P software:
furthurnet (http://www.furthurnet.org/)
Dircet Connect (not as user friendly as the others):
DC++ on Sourceforge (http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/?page=features)
Bit Torrent:
Bit Torrent FAQ & Guide (http://www.dessent.net/btfaq/)
bt.etree.org (http://bt.etree.org/index.php)
sharing the groove (http://www.sharingthegroove.org/msgboard/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=17)
FTP- great variety of shows, usually pretty fast too:
etree.org (http://etree.org/whoarewe.html)
Live Music Archive - browse for shows and download it - super easy smileys/smiley2.gif
Live Music Archive (http://www.archive.org/audio/etree.php)
Update:12/05/2003 G. Love and Special Sauce are now a part of the Archive Project, thanks to the philadelphonice community, the Internet Archive and the Band's management G.Love Info (http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-band-details.php?band=G.%20Love%20and%20Special%20Sauce )
Most of the above sources generally use a filetype called SHN. SHN's are super easy to use, please don't fear them. SHN is short for Shorten. It is a lossless compression for digital music. It compresses music files 1/2 to 1/3 of their original size, maintaining perfect sound quality.
Most everyone knows what's up, but here's some links anyway:
MKW allows you to convert SHN's to burn to CD's
MKW SHN Software (http://home.att.net/~mkw/mkwact.html)
SHN's can be played in WinAMP without conversion, look here: SHN Amp (http://etree.org/shnamp.html)
Please drop questions and feeback here. Let's see everyone's music list too!!Edited by: brijahn
